Even Aggers points at England's hypocricy
Even Aggers
“There will be cricket lovers in Pakistan who, with some justification, might ponder whether England would have played there under similar circumstances.
Indeed, we must not lose sight of the political game that has had a major influence here, with the ECB desperate to improve its relationship with its counterpart, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
It could also be argued that those England players who have an eye on signing a lucrative Indian Premier League contract might have appeared hypocritical to have opted out now, but appeared for an Indian franchise in three months. “

good for aggers...australia only refused to play in Pakistan because the Oz high commissioner to Pak owned shares in an IPL franchise and gave a hysterical security warning...she was a disgustoid Little Johnny Howard appointment who made a motza from the pill in the petrol tank fraud and reinvested her ill gotten gains in the IPL

Cricket, laced with inconsistencies and hypocricy. Whodathunkit?
Maybe I should stop taking notice of any of the off field BS and only worry about the games on the pitch.

I can't really argue against this view. It's not just England who are hypocritical, though, as Horrie says.
I can't help thinking that the 'senior players' were not making a decision about going to India in 2008, but were thinking ahead to Spring 2009...

As far as I can recall England have toured Pakistan as recently as 2001 & 2005/6 so I don't know what the fuss is about?
The minute England pull out of a tour of Pakistan fair do's but you can hardly call them hypocrites until then!

Zat,
Unfortunately, Pakistanis don't have any 'on field' activities to get stirred up about, so it does matter to them (and should to you too). If you are fed up with it, tell Cricket Australia.
They could drop a nuclear bomb in Melbourne and there would still be opponents queueing up to take part in the Boxing Day Test.

They had 'reservations' about going back to India too. As I said, until England pull out of a tour of Pakistan then you're calling them hypocrites when they haven't even done the deed yet! Especially as they have toured there twice this decade and not been shunted off to Sharjah

For that matter, England played the Ashes series of 2005 within weeks of a major terrorist attack in England.

The hypocrisy is obvious but I don't think that monetary considerations are the sole factor.
Right from the days of Botham's infamous statement about Pakistan and mother-in-laws, teams haven't enjoyed touring there.
Regardless of what the stats say, there also seems to be a feeling that terrorism in Pakistan is more systematically organised.

its probably more to do with confidence in security organised by the two governments and presence of terrorists. zardari certainly does not seem to be in charge of his country

Re: Even Aggers points at England's hypocricy
let's clear this up this very instant ..
India says terrorists came from Pakistan.
Pakistan says terrorists came from Pakistan.
Which country should you tour ? According to Imran since terrorists come from Pakistan, teams should tour only Pakistan because terrorists would want not to lose the 'hearts and minds' of Pakistanis.
It's your call I guess .. Aggers goes with Imran.
Next.

if it wasn't such a serious issue then i would have said that you are having a laugh...Red wrote:The hypocrisy is obvious but I don't think that monetary considerations are the sole factor.

but since its a very serious issue i would say you are not on track but atleast we agree on the rather obvious hypocrisy issue.

Re: Even Aggers points at England's hypocricy
Frankly Pakistan is doing itself no good, by going on all these tangents.
Pakistani nationalists like Imran, Miandad, Latif cannot claim to 'condemn' the terrorist attacks against fun/peace-loving citizens in Mumbai and then go on to aggresively make points about teams not touring Pakistan.
I guess there is a time and place to make that point, but it's not usually after such a calamity (man-made/inflicted) has been inflicted.
Quite sure I am, that the fact hasn't even crossed the minds of these gents.

I don't think it's fair to compare the situations in India and Pakistan.
