Re: Friends Reunited
I finished school 23 years ago ....and the majority of my mates are friends from school ....helps if you went to a good boarding school I suppose
...but then again my brother went to the same school (6 years earlier) and hasn't kept in touch with any classmates

Same here, I had a ball at my reunion (even managed to get slapped by the school hotty for reminding her of her page 3 appearance 27 times) but I guess if you throw enough 'stuff' down your throat you are going to have fun wherever you are.

I got so bored with the endless droning from cretins that I didn't like way back then. And bizarrely quite a few of them ended up as teachers in the old home town. I p!ssed em all off by telling them I couldn't imagine anything worse than teaching at my old high school.JKLever wrote:Demelza wrote:It isn't just people from school though now.
You can see lists of people from where you used to work and even from the road you used to live in.
And, like I said, you don't have to pay UNLESS you want to get in touch with THEM.
I don't even want to look incase someone I hated is now a Rich B'Stard with a multi-national business
...cripes...have never been to a school reunion ....got tracked down through the electoral roll several years ago and invited to one of those less than august events...had to decline...aside from anything else many of those i went to school with a complete tories and always considered me as a subversive.

Wouldn't most of them have perished in the Great War or with the Spanish flu?

rofl...many of course have gone to their eternal reward...survivors would have "crossed the Rubicon" and become designers of 'bottom of the harbour' tax schemes, car retailing moguls or Liberal politicians (or all three)

I wouldn't p*ss on some the characters I went to school with even if they were on fire.

The problem is, you get in touch with these people, talk about old times and then realise that you've got absolutely nothing else in common with them now.

Re: Friends Reunited
If I don't get in touch with them in the first place, I similarly have nothing in common with them.
So why not cut out the middle man and just not bother?

Re: Friends Reunited
facebook is quality. i guess its a lot more useful when you are just out of college and have friends spread out around the world. you cant really 'meet' them even if you wanted to. you can also share lots of stuff like pics, vids, etc
and yeah, its a great reminder for birthdays

I couldn't find my school on Facebook, not even the district.
It was right next door to Selhurst Park football ground.

Re: Friends Reunited
Yeah, my bro does myspace, facebook etc. Don't see the point, I see plenty of old schoolmates when out and it's damn perfect. A drink or two and a laugh in passing, swap numbers, give it the "Yeah, deffo" when they say "Give us a call, we'll go and do something" then just leave it alone.

It was in those days where you respected your elders.
Do you remember that?

Last time I looked at Friends Reunited I couldn't actually remember very many of the people from my school that were on there. Mind you my school days weren't really worth remembering.
