Could this be Brett Lee's last test?
Could well be, imo. Ponting's patience with him was on the verge of being lost after Perth, and after his performance in this game, i'd say that's it.

His injury will give the selectors an excuse to drop him too.

I think he will be dropped for Sydney, but it will only be temporary.
He will be back playing test cricket. There is so much in the next 18 months that he is bound for a recall.

If it really is stress fractures then he might not be able to play for a few months.

Like I said in the match thread, is it wrong to hope for a terminal foot injury?

Only if you promise to kill him as soon as he steps off the plane.

No. I want him six feet under by the time the first ball is bowled.

Bung won't tour SAF if his replacement does well in Sydney.
If he doesn't tour SAF he will certainly not tour England, unless Aus have a string of serious injuries in the build up.

Don't forget Stuart Clark is to come back as well - he'll certainly tour England.

Bung gets a wicket off a no ball in his last Test spell. A lovely microcosm of his career.

Hehe. My old man turned in his grave at that moment. FFS.JGK wrote:Bung gets a wicket off a no ball in his last Test spell. A lovely microcosm of his career.
And I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end for Bung.

I refuse to get my hopes up. But I think the selectors can only afford to take one bloke recovering from an injury on the Ashes tour. And that shouldn't be the bloke who proved incredibly erratic last time he returned from injury.

Re: Could this be Brett Lee's last test?
I'm afraid Lee will be taken to England. This injury has come at the worst possible time for our Ashes chances. If he'd been fit for selection for the next four Tests (Sydney and Yarpie tour), he'd not survive them without being dropped...now he's almost a dead cert to be called back to 'save' Australia for the Ashes. I can already hear the dubber press pumping up his tyres.Zat wrote:I refuse to get my hopes up.
