Seriously, after? I really don't remember that.
Sorry, I was being obtuse.
'After' meaning 1977, during the WSC split, and 'before' meaning exactly the same time, before Bacchus returned; hence 'after and before' rather than 'before and after'. Wright lost his place to Rixon on the Bobby Simpson farewell WI tour ...

Athey left some space unwasted and oxygen unthieved.
Cosier, on the other hand ... was ably assisted by trevor Chappell.
All dross weasel belong to Aus.

Do you mean Craig White? He's never been a dross weasel or even a 'dross weasel'.

If you listen to some of the older generation West Indians they will tell you that anyone who played inter-island cricket from 1972 to 1985 would stroll into the current team.

Hmmm...doesn't really work because England are generally better now then they were in the 80s & 90s and I don't go back much further. I'd find it hard to argue that the fairly good dross Weasel likes of Butcher, Crawley, Knight, Rhodes, Malcolm, Defreitas, Barnett, Illingworth and a cast of thousands more would really press hard for a place in the current team.
Battingwise the current bunch have to a man got some decent scores against an uber strong Aussie attack (not consistently mind you)- the likes of Habib, Ward and Lucipher the sex donkey would be honestly be hard pushed to get to 20 against a decent bowling attack.
Bowlingwise- one bunch of dross Weasels averaging mid-30s against another bunch doing exactly the same.
Hick would stroll into the ODI side- but he was actually a good ODI player.

Hick - there's not really any fast bowlers in world cricket these days, just a multitude of trundlers that he'd gorge on.
Ramps would probably do all right too in the cosy England set-up where it's impossible to get dropped. No pressure = Bloodaxe the run botherer.
Peter Martin was a dross weasel. Wouldn't get into the England side, but I could see him opening the bowling for NZ alongside Chris Martin in the drossiest new-ball pairing called Martin in the history of the world.

And they'd bowl England out for a pittance on a pitch made of swamp.

I say even Mark "get to 50 then get out so I can go for a fag" Butcher would be a better bet than Ian Bell at #3.
