Re: West Indies Domestic Season 2009
I don't think he's any relation. Not sure though. He is a first class pelter. Turns it square quite often, but there is no way he will be selected with his bowling action.

Daren Bravo out for 97 because he was left stranded and had to hit out due to awful slogs from the tailenders.
Sound familiar?
Still it was a superb innings from a 19 year old, a century can't be too far away.

I feel sorry for young Bravo. He deserved that 100. Mohammed and Kelly should be ashamed for not staying with him till his first century.

Wow what a day. Crazy batting in 2 of the matches, and T & T taking charge of the big match of the 1st round.

Jamaica won by 6 wickets
WI v GUY
Guyana 172 all out (Travis Dowlin 50, Leon Johnson 25, Shane Shillingford 4 wickets)
Windward Islands 414/9 dec (Devon Smith 212, Daren Sammy 59, Davendra Bishoo 3/89)

Windward Islands won by an innings and 147 runs
BAR v T & T
Trinidad & Tobago 264 all out (Daren Bravo 97, Daren Ganga 56, Ryan Hinds 4/50, Kemar Roach 3/59)

Trinidad & Tobago 120/1 (Adrian Barath 65 not out, Justin Guillen 31)
Some pretty terrible batting against spin bowling in this tournament so far, with 3 leg spinners impressing, while wicket taking machine Jaggernauth continues his amazing regional record.
Our young batsmen have been impressive so far, particularly the Trini's Barath and Bravo.

Re: West Indies Domestic Season 2009
Bravo jr and Barath- the Windies should not rush these two.
It will be a tragedy if they are brought in before they are ready. The Windies board has f*cked enough young players as it is.
And what price Devon Smith getting a double. Now he must be a cert for selection? Or Re, re, re ,re etc, selection?
Perhaps this time he'll play with a tad more maturity.

Barath may get selected this year. He does average 45 in FC cricket after all. But Bravo Jr should not be selected for at least 2 years, let him pile up some FC runs.

Round 1, Day 4 Summary:
BAR v T & T
Trinidad & Tobago 264 all out (Daren Bravo 97, Daren Ganga 56, Ryan Hinds 4/50, Kemar Roach 3/59)
Barbados 199 all out (Dale Richards 65,Rohan Nurse 45, Sherwin Ganga 5/40, Amit Jaggernauth 4/64)
Trinidad & Tobago 212/3 (Adrian Barath 78, Lendl Simmons 73, Justin Guillen 31)
Barbados 197/4 (Dale Richards 113, Ryan Hinds 43)
Match Drawn
So after the first round, the openers have well and truly put their hands up and Chattergoon is in deep doodoo. Devon Smith 212, Dale Richards 116 and 65 and Adrian Barath with 78.
The spinners have put their hands up as usual, with leg spinner Gavin Wallace giving the ball a huge rip and in the process taking 8/20 for Jamaica. A leg spinner who can bat a little bit would be an awesome addition to our side so lets hope he continues to impress.
The only fast bowlers to impress were Deighton Butler with 5 wickets against Guyana, and Kemar Roach who gave a few Trinis the hurry up on a really slow deck and bowled Justin Guillen with a fantastic inswinging yorker that can be seen at the end of this video.

Not surprising really considering he used to give commentary during his own innings (used to drive the fielders mad apparently).
The Bajan commentators annoy me as they are all in love with Tino Best's bowling and I just can't understand why.
Btw here is a bit more info on Gavin Wallace, the leggie who has burst onto the scene with 8/20 against the Leeward Islands.

What I had said about not bringing Barath too early into international cricket.... I am hearing that that he has a problem with fast bowling?

It appears he might has a problem with short pitched bowling with the new ball occasionally. Still, the fact that he is averaging 43 in Fc cricket leads me to believe it is not major and that he will work on it.

I would differ- I doubt that international cricket is the stage where he should be working out that particular problem. How old is he 18? 19?
IMO, too many potential Windian bats destroyed because they were force ripened.

Those Trini spinners seemed to really struggle against decent batting, on their home tracks, you can see why the selectors are wary of using them
Especially as Benn can strike 79 with the bat
