The 50 Over Competition started today:

Guyana beat Windward Islands thanks to a wonderful 70 from Ronnie Sarwan while the University of the West Indies tied with favourites Trinidad & Tobago thanks to 130 from Floyd Reifer (yes that really is his name), who was run out of the last ball while going for the winning run.

Tomorrow Brendan Nash makes his debut for Jamaica against Leeward Islands while West Indies Under 19 take on Barbados.

Lol well it has certainly been fast food cricket so far today with the Under 19's 14/6 after 10 Overs after electing to bat in cloudy conditions against Collins and Fidel Edwards who has subsequently caused havoc.

Yep the future looks bright doesn't it Laughing ?

In the other match Brendan Nash is making his debut and has already got a run out with a fine piece of fielding.

Barbados only won by 8 wickets and were struggling to get bat on ball against Windies Under 19 pacers. What a horrible match after yesterdays thrillers.

Jamaica won easily thanks to Brenton Parchment, Chris Gayle and Shauyn Findlay.

Nash made only 6 (16) but bowled 10 overs of left arm medium pace and conceded only 26 runs.

Omari Banks was man of the match with 62 and 2/42.

Just read about Pedro blasting the U19's out for 18. Either the U19's are completely useless or Pedro is 300% better than he was a couple of years ago.

Nash bowled? Never did much of that for Queensland ...

It'd be good to see the old Reifer-Ganga partnership again.

After watching them for a while, you end up wanting to watch a Mustard and Onions partnership.

Apologies WIFAN - this should remain a Windian domestic thread, not a punnathon.

Does Red Stripe still have a sponsorship role?

No Red Stripe are gone, Carib Beer sponsors the 4 day stuff.

In answer to the question about Pedro, he has become a seriously good bowler when it swings, similar to good old Sidebottom. He is one of the best bowlers we have but good old Aussie PE teacher Bennett King refused to play him because he didn't have superman-like stamina.

The Under 19's are a talented bunch but they are extremely vulnerable against quality swing bowling and they met up just a day before the match having never played as a team before.

They played a 20-20 match afterwards and held their own so I hope they learn from it and beat Jamaica on Friday.

Maybe the Under 19's felt they had to score under 19 runs

Guyana are through to the next round thanks to a comprehensive win over the University of the West Indies. Travis Dowlin scored 118 while Chattergoon and Sarwan played useful cameos to help the team reach 279. The students then struggled and were bowled out for 180.

T&T thrashed the Windward Islands by 7 wickets with 30 overs remaining to get 2 bonus points. Ravi Rampaul took 4 wickets and Lendl Simmons smashed a quickfire 60. Dwayne Bravo also had a fine allround performance taking 2 cheap wickets and scoring 30 not out.

Embarassed Bowled out for 110, then Chris Gayle went mad and they chased the total down in 12 Overs.

Barbados beat Leeward Islands thanks to 70 from 18 year old Jonathan Carter and a 5 wicket haul from Fidel Edwards.
