T20 obviously here to stay.
1.9 million were watching and the ratings guy said this will likely put it in the top twenty programs for the year.

You have to put it in the context of what other sporting events and shows usually rate.
And then consider that babies, toddlers are out of the equation, people on holidays, people out not having access to a tv etc.

I think the ratings agencies underestimate figures for sporting events like this.
Plenty of people watch it in pubs where it's hard for the agencies to know how many people are watching.
I went round to a mate's place to watch it and there would have been ten of us there.
If he doesn't have a people-metre it means nothing.

Of course Nien wouldn't put the Cricket on when they were in the ratings period, just look at the way they shaft the Ashes and tours to Windies etc.

And believe it or not, not everyone watches TV all the time. The total for prime time is usually about 7 million, so this represents something like a 30% market share.

Nein had the Underarm Wanker series brought forward to the end of ratings period a couple of years ago ...other than that they cant do much about when the Oz summer is ...and when the ratings period is ...
and they know non cricket fans will only watch JAMODIs at night and dont want to miss CSI
The reason that SBS has the Ashes cricket is because 7 , 9 and 10 know it will stuff up their normal watchers' routines and they cant show it on their "second" channels only
