A to Z ... massive crowds
Australia has landed in Zimbabwe, and the reception has been massive.
The normally bucolic Harare International Airport was stretched beyond its capabilities as the 14-man squad shuffled through, and the team’s inner-city hotel hosted a foyer buzz of Beatle-esque fervour ahead of the ODI tri-series featuring the host nation and South Africa starting on Monday.
Unfortunately, all that ensuing excitement had virtually nothing to do with the arrival of the world’s number one-ranked one-day outfit.
Instead, Harare is heaving with delegates – largely from the United States – attending the three-day International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses that is expected to draw around 60,000 worshippers to the city’s National Sports Stadium.
