Oz Open Tennis 2009
Bernard Tomic, the Future Of Australian Tennis (hereafter FOAT) looking quite impressive so far in his Open debut - set 1 v Starace goes to a tiebreaker.
Ivanovic through but not very convincing, 7th seed and well-known head case Vera 'Vinegar Tits' Zvonareva also through.
EDIT: FOAT 4-1 up in tiebreaker and looking the better player.....)

Not if he takes after his old man.
Bernard has the same Utimate Challenge as Hawthorn's 2009 'Next Big Thing' Cyril Rioli: reaching enough heights in their sport to make their Christian names fashionable.

I haven't heard of most of the Australians in the draw. Colin Ebelthite? Carsten Ball? Samuel Groth? Bryden Klein? They sound like joke names.

Aust tennis is crisis.
Actually, it's worse than that. It's on its deathbed.

Calvin Klein's a set up on Bjorn Phau (pronounced 'Pow!)
None of those 'joke names' holds a candle to Llllllleyton Hewitt.

CORRECTION: Calvin Klein is a set and 3-0 up on Bjorn Phus (pronounced Pow!)
And the FOAT is playing a good, competitive third set agter getting walloped in the second

good effort by FOAT...we can only hope Praton Hewitt plays for another few years so Tomic can outgrow his dad and prattishness without the pressure of being our leading Tennis Prat

Re: Oz Open Tennis 2009
Bryden Klein also won today, in four sets over Phau.
Is there a tennis equivalent of WW out there who can find the last time two Australians won on the same day at a Grand Slam and
a) their combined age was under 40, and
b) neither of them had the initials LH?

Lleyton Hewitt is finished. Probably not even one of the worlds top 20 players now.

Re: Oz Open Tennis 2009
I'm still not convinced Andy Murray has the mental strength to go all the way in a grand slam tournament just yet.
Federer will win it.

Back spasms apparently. Shame, he's good fun.
Joker is seeded the same as last year. If he'd won the Sydney tournament last week he'd have the No 2 ranking (although maybe that would have come too late to be reflected in the seedings for this week).

What does 'vinegar tits' mean?
IMO Federer and Williams will take out the respective titles.

Which Williams?
Also, Fed has no hope. He's lost his backhand and second serve. Rafa will win.

Serena.
Is that some kind of woof on Federer?
Remember this is the man who made three grand slam finals last year and Rafa has never won a slam on a hard court.
