It also seems that grace in victory is not a quality that some Australian forummers possess.

What? You seriously think a 'loss' in some bullshit mickey mouse slogathon is what is motivating the Aussies in India right now?
If some of the Australian players' quotes are to be believed, and of course if some of the players understand the meaning of the words that periodically come out their mouth, then yes.
Well played Australia. Still a class apart and a far superior team to India.
6-0 seems to be on the cards.
Bloody rain . . .
Besides, we are using this as practice (as seen by Clarke and Podge bowling), so expect us to lose one along the way . . .
I don't get to see the matches- time differentials- but even one match will surprise me.

What? I'm organizing an open bus parade through Tokyo for the Aussie fans after today's win . .

Shouldn't that be two parades like what you apparently done in '99?

Good idea, one in Tokyo and one in Osaka . . .

A bit too pesimistic there furriner. It's been 2 matches and we've played - 1. Five bowlers and Gambhir, 2. Gambhir.

And Australia have bowled Clarke and Hodge, and dropped Haddin . . . just to make it closer!

We won again? I should be more interested ...
Roll on, Tassie's Shield defence, and the Tests.

India were lucky Clarke went for the big hit when all he had to do was turn the strike over to Symonds costing at least 20 runs.
Not in the game plan Kiddie you should stop this hero nonsense.
Hodge has ambitions of replacing Langer as test opener?
What a prospect.
Seriously we have a potential opening problem.
I prefer David Hussey (unlikely though) to the inconsistent Jaques not sure about Rogers.

Opener problem? Rogers has scored heavily in the last 2 summers...and if he doesn't work then give Jaques a go...don't see any problem.

Yes selection wise it's a snap.
As far as performance goes another story.
It's a big jump to test cricket. Keeping my fingers crossed for Rogers as he is the more consistent of the two

Is Australia's middle order batting in such crisis that natural opener Mike Hussey cant be moved to the top of the order? It's a no brainer really.

It's too obvious isn't it.Mike Hussey and Hayden.
Pity the selectors won't go for it.

Aye. I can't believe that there is any thought that Podge could work as an opener. His limited foot movement and gaping corridor between bat and pad will prove him to be a guaranteed failure in NLWL's position. If they must persist with this Podge nonsense, then surely it's Paris to open and Podge at 5. Personally, I'd still go for new blood with Rogers or Jaques at no. 1 (cos that sook MtFTB always let NLWL face) and leave Paris at 4. That way Podge is kept well away from the Test XI.Minnesota Fats wrote:Henry wrote:Is Australia's middle order batting in such crisis that natural opener Mike Hussey cant be moved to the top of the order? Yes that's the way to go.
Did someone else hear that Rogers went poorly in County cricket or did I dream it?

Both Rogers and Jaques had poor county seasons but Jaques made a lot of runs against Pakistan 'A' about a month back.

Yes Jaques gets a big score now and again but up till now he has more batting technique faults than Hodge including that slash outside off stump.
That's why I really wanted Rogers to carry on with his good shield form whilst in England.
Not to worry Merv will sort it out.

The Aussie middle order without Paris looks pretty farking English...ie crap. We can't have all our best best in the top order...we don't want one good spell knocking over our best bats.
Rogers
Hayden
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Gilchrist
Moving Paris out of four and it's 3 out all out.

Bell and Collingwood average more than Clarke and Symonds. Then theres Pietersen and Hussey, which is pretty much even.

To be fair Symonds is adapting to test cricket and Kiddie is improving with some of his rash shots being eliminated.
I would expect them to bat well this time around.
Hussey's form is not that great of late but batting at four consistently should fix that.

Err, because Australia has a vacancy at the top of the order and Hussey has been an opener for 80% of his career? You're thicker than pig shit mixed with superglue if you cant see that it's the obvious move.
Hayden will probably be gone at the end of the upcoming summer anyway, so Australia would have 2 novice openers at the top of the order if they decide to go with Rogers and Jaques, meaning your fear about the middle order will be switched to the top order.
