When last did Australia lose five ODIs in a row?
And that at home? Would be interesting to have that answered for other teams, too...

Last time we lost five on the trot was not that long ago, early 2007.

It has only happened once before, mynah. Between 15 Dec 1996 v Pak and 12 Jan 1997 v WI, Aus lost 5 straight home JAMODIs. The current putrid stretch equals that

Don't know about home, but Aus lost 5 in a row just before WC'07, 2 at home and 3 in NZ.
SL is about to lose 5 straight ODIs at home.

As I posted above. It is the only other time Aus have strung together 5 consecutive home losses. The One wrote:2007 vs eng and nz

FFS...Aus losing to Snoozers at home in back to back JAMODIs? How fast has the degenaration been? 16 years of invincibility reduced to Ashes now subtly but all of a sudden in 6 months flat?
Well Done!

Re: When last did Australia lose five ODIs in a row?
Vikas
Check out what happened in the tournament after the last time Oz lost 5 Jamodis in a row ...
In the medium to long term ( ie before the next Gilly) we have Lee , Symonds , Clark and Watson to come back into the team ...You'd have to think that at least 2 of them will make it back ...and they'll make a difference
You'd also think in that period of time Marsh may have settled into the opener position and that D Hussey will have remembered how to bat ...and also that the selectors realise that D Warner should be nowhere near a national team
Ponting has 100% captaincy record in Gilly's ...so he might be able to muddle through again
Dont know what we can do about Leslie's coaching though ...

Re: When last did Australia lose five ODIs in a row?
Australia are a mess in the OD game at the minute. Warner doesn't look good enough to open, the batting doesn't have the depth it used to have, and the bowling's tripe. In particular, the spin bowling options are non-existent. They had Brad Hogg in the WC who caused a lot of problems with his googly in particular, now they've got ShyT and Dussey bowling their spin! Shocking.
It's not like the build-up to the WC where they were losing, but still had a decent side. The attack was balanced and had strength in reserve; McGrath, Bracken, Lee, Tait, Hogg, Watson with Symonds there to offer an option.
Not to mention the batting with Hayden in supreme form and Michael Hussey batting at 7 in a WC FINAL!

True ....We don't have a spinner ...I'd give Heal a try
Watto
Bog
Punter
Roy
Pup
Paris
CQ
Midge
Dung
Ferny
Subi
Nicky
Taypodge
Fleas
ShyT
Voges
Ferguson
Klinger
Jaques
Hughes
Pomersbach
North
Carseldine
Ronchi
Wade
Crossthwaite
Paine
Hartley
Fatty Smith
basically anyone except Manoure
Tait
Hilf
Bubbles
Sewer
Noffers
Rhino
Butler
Hopes
Ronny
Heal
Horrorz
Cullen
Doherty
Krazy
(If Botha can do a job as a Jamodi spinner then one of them should be able to do a half decent job )
the mess that needs to be cleared up is making sure that a balanced team is picked ...this is hard to do without symonds and/or watson

fair comment. But if Voges becomes a regular, then we have 3 left arm orthodox spinners in the team. Plus I wouldn't want to ruin Heal's bowling.

England lost to Sri Lanka 5-zip in 2006.

I don't think we've been an elite team in JAMODI cricket since about 1992 though!Dello wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:I don't remember the last time ANY of the elite teams lost 5 ODIs in a row at home.
