October 6th.
In the third Test between Pakistan and South Africa at Faisalabad in 1997, leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed thought he had bowled South African Pat Symcox as he nipped one through his defences and knocked back middle stump. However, the stifling heat had - it seemed - fused the bails together and they refused to fall. The middle stump rocked back into place and Symcox continued on his way to his second highest Test score of 81.
