Super 14 2009
Went to watch the Western Giteau's tonight ...They must have been training with Freo over the summer FFS
Gave away victory with some lazy play and being on the wrong side of the whistle ...not sure if the ref was a qunt or if the Force just don't know the farquen rules

Crap game . . . both teams played loose and ugly, ref was a deadset qunt and the rucks were all over the place like a mad woman's shit. Disgraceful rugby.

The Force will be lucky to win a meat raffle this year. The off-season coach debacle, on top of a bunch of imported players more homesick than Harmi mean 2009 may be the year we see 'the dark side of the force'.
I crack me up.

They certainly won't threaten the 4 (& when are "they" going to introduce the best of the lot final 5 system)
Like all footy teams there are certain players they cannot excel without. James Horwill is out & won't be back for too long. Barnes is fragile.
I'd reckon they'd be over the moon with 8 wins. More likely to be 4 or 5, given that Horwill plays more than half the season & they don't lose Barnes for more than a game or two.

I would have fixed the coaching problem in the following manner ...
Asked Giteau what he needed to make him happy ...
Tell the rest of them to follow Mitchell's instructions exactly ....they'd either have a successful year ( in which case it doesn't matter that the coach is too tough on you because you're playing in a winning team) or have been totally awful and shown him up as a dud coach ...and if they don't follow the instructions they are welcome for a transfer to the Reds , Brumbies , Waratahs or wherever ....Giteau and 14 people plucked from the crowd is about as useful as the Force

I believe that question was asked.embee wrote:I would have fixed the coaching problem in the following manner ...

With the answer something like 'a release from my contract so I can go back to the Brumbies'.

I'm sorry i'm not in Aus to hear all the hype about how this will finally be NSW's year, only to see them crash and burn at the final hurdle.
The Crusaders will win this again.

You would've said something against the Australian teams. The rest is just nuance.

Actually Trev, I'll take it back, youi wouldn't usually lower yourself to take shots at individual states in sports other than cricket.

U-u-u-ugly win by the Tahs.
And the Reds slept their way through 65 minutes v Chiefs before playing like geniuses for the final 15 minutes to score 4 unanswered tries but still fell short.

My first sight of the Highlanders new strip last night. Massive improvement. Gawd it's hard to make blue and yellow look like anything you'd want to play in. I'm guessing that Southland must have a red base to their strip.
