Round 1 went pretty much as I expected, except that I thought it would be a closer match between Kenya and Netherlands.
Aghanistan cruised to victory over Denmark (Den 9/204, Afg 5/205)
UAE beat Bermuda (Ber 187, UAE 6/190)
Canada thumped Oman (Canada 247, Oman 144)
Ireland had an easy win over Scotland, bringing up the required in the 38th over (Scot 7/232, Ire 3/233)
Netherlands had a comfortable win over Kenya (Ken 8/247, Neth 3/248)
Uganda had a narrow victory over Namibia (Uga 7/234, Nam 9/228)

Apparently he is pinging off back to Essex during the middle of this tournament.
My predictions for Round 2:
Afghanistan to beat Bermuda
Uganda to beat Canada
Netherlands to beat Denmark
Ireland to beat Oman
Kenya to beat UAE
Scotland to beat Namibia
You heard it hear first.

Denmark must be gutted to be without Amjad Khan, Peter Schmeichel and Mags out of A-ha.
Bad times.

Zing! I like that.
Fact of the day: I've been to the real Lego Land in Denmark. It's all right, if you like that kind of thing. I was about eight, so I did.

There was atime when Kenya were being touted as the next side to play test cricket.

I'm cheering for Afghanistan after everything they've been through in the last 7 years. It would be a great achievement for them to play in the world cup in 2011. Apparently they have some real talent in their side.

I'd go along with that. it's not that long since they got into the ICC. To get this this close to the World Cup is a real achievement. Let's hope it continues.

I'm with Henry, Afghanistan are my pick to go through. I'm wondering if they will be in the Test Rankings over Pakistan in a few decades.
All speculation, but exciting nevertheless.

Good luck to Afghanistan, but given the pariahs Pakistan have become in the international game on safety grounds, can you see anyone being willing to tour Afghanistan?

Haven't the ICC got a brand new stadium of their own at Dubai with a capacity of 20,000? I don't see why both Pakistan and Afghanistan couldn't set up base there.

Aye, they've certainly come back a bit since they got to the world cup semifinals.

Kenya have no talent depth. They're still relying on the likes of Steve Tikolo. He was their best player in 1996 and at 38, he's still their best player now.
I think Ireland have the best chance of becoming the 11th test nation. (Thanks in no small part to England) they do manage to produce some good young players- Morgan, Porterfield, Rankin....

I think Namibia hold that title. Especially after being beaten by Uganda yesterday.

FFS why bother supporting another shit team from another shit hole no-one in their right mind would want to visit. We already have too many of them.I'm cheering for Afghanistan after everything they've been through in the last 7 years.
It's a FACT that Europe is the future of cricket; Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland.
I'd love to see the Netherlands playing a Test against Australia in Amsterdam.
