Symonds to visit doctor ovr knee flare up.
Certainly puts his short-term career in jeopardy and maybe clouds a possible Ashes tour. I also read that he may have split with his long-term girlfriend. Is not travelling well.

Symonds to visit doctor over knee injury flare up
Melbourne, Feb 14 : Australian allrounder Andrew Symonds will visit Cricket Australia doctor Trefor James early next week to learn the full extent of his latest knee injury that flared up again on the field on the first day of the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval. Symonds pulled up after bowling just two overs for Queensland, looking uneasy and did not re-emerge from the dressing room after the interval. He was later spotted in the Bulls' viewing area with an icepack strapped to his right knee. Symonds had surgery on his right knee on New Year's Eve after limping through the first two Tests against South Africa. Symonds will fly to Melbourne to meet with Dr James to assess the return of the pain in his right knee, which affected him during the Perth and Melbourne Tests against South Africa and led to him to having surgery on New Year's Eve, The Age reported. Symonds will bat for the Bulls at No.7, but was not seen in the field at any stage of South Australia's lengthy first innings of 6-489 declared on day two on Saturday. The return of knee pain is hardly the best news for Symonds at a time when he is fighting to both overcome behavioural problems and also prove to Australian selectors he will be worth his place in the team once he is eligible for selection following the completion of an intensive counselling program. |
