These two will both score hundreds here today and perhaps even compile a 300 or 400 partnership over the next three or four sessions.

That was shocking, I wonder if he understands the lbw rule? Don't come much plumber than that and you can't imagine Sarwan will waste that life.
Still, England only have themselves to blame for wasting their referrals. Everybody knows Tiffin is utterly useless.

Since we agreed that Hawkeye is a predictor not a scientific tool.

Err, had the pad not interrupted the trajectory of the ball, would the clipping of the outside of the leg bail be regarded as being out? Or was the bail super-glued on ?WIFAN wrote:Since when is clipping the outside of the leg bail plumb?

that is a judgment call. Plumb means dead certain, unforgivably out etc........

Lol at SKY showing the side-on of Amjad's action for a full length delivery.
IMHO the closes he comes to pelting is his short pitched deliveries.

Thoughts:
England have bowled really really well this morning, the best they have been all tour.
Monty needs to be fined for his appeal against Simmonds that was an utter disgrace. Even Cozier called it intimidating an unacceptable.
Simmonds has only scored 16 so far, but he already looks 10 times better than Ryan Hinds has so far. Regardless of what happens from now, he looks like he belongs and Hinds doesn't.

Not sure how Montay could intimidate anyone..... "brainless" might be a better adjective.

West Indian fans calling of the oppo players for being 'intimidating' is a bit of a joke considering the 70's and 80's
(Not that i'm disagreeing with your point btw)
As for the play, we bowled pretty well on a still otherwise excellent pitch. The next session coming up is absolutely crucial, almost identical to the last test where Ronnie & Shiv took the game away from us.

I was not around for most of our dominance I will have you know!!!!
Monty charging around the middle of the wicket clapping his oversized hands in the umpires face is not acceptable and he has gotten away with it for too long.

Prior = 26 byes (extras already 48 FFS)
Let's hope he's not in the side for his keeping!

Prior up to 95 byes in less than 5 completed innings in the series.

Still preferable to having a tail which starts at 6.Big_Bad_Bob wrote:Prior up to 95 byes in less than 5 completed innings in the series.

Hmmmm, not so sure about that!
Still preferable to having a tail which starts at 6.
He's not always going to make big runs, and overall, with his lack of keeping nous, an average giveaway of 20 byes per innings - based on this one - (perhaps a dropped catch or three along the way) will more than counter balance any contribution he might offer with the bat.
Pause for thought methinks.

Some people assume that the "best" keeper wouldn't concede any byes at all when making that kind of comparison. In practice they still will concede some, particularly to wayward bowling.Merlin wrote:Hmmmm, not so sure about that!

The psychological effect of a long tail can also be added to the difference between the actual runs scored by the batsman-keeper and specialist keeper. I just don't believe you can carry what is essentially a specialist fielder in a modern-day international side.
