Re: West Indies v England, 5th Test, Port of Spain, Mar 6 - 10
He's never really been on my radar of dreadful umpires. But he has been awful in this series.
I believe he just turned down the Panesar appeal for Gayle if my lip reading is right because either the ball pitched outside leg (it landed on middle) or he said it hit him outside off (it hit him in front of middle and off.
Either way he needs to get to specsavers or a better option just fark off....

Is, was, and always will be.
Don't know how he's ended up on the "Elite" umpires panel again after being dumped a few years ago for being mind-blowingly incompetent.
But here he is...
Aye. Him and Asoka De Silva should never be seen again.

That's because the ICC quietly stood him down in 2004 and we've been able to forget that his original inclusion on the Elite Umpires panel way back when was a transparently political appointment to have all the Test playing nations represented and had absolutely nothing to do with ability.
Re: West Indies v England, 5th Test, Port of Spain, Mar 6 - 10
The second and third ones you couldn't give, but the one Gayle played no shot at was appalling umpiring.
Monty has bowled his socks off here to be fair to the lad, with little luck.

Not going to happen, I don't think.
Good effort by the side that turned up this week to play a game of cricket.

Who, Tiffing? Fk, he's famous. It's a miracle if he gets something right.

For me Strauss has wasted 6 overs now on poor bowling changes. Khan, Broad shouldn't have got a look in after the new ball.

"will they continue if no wickets fall in the next 30 minutes?"
Well, they did get a wicket in that half hour.
But I've never really understood why captains shake hands before the overs are up. Got better things to do? Might as well play it out for the practice ... and anyway, you never know, there could be a late collapse.
In this case there are only three wickets to come so Strauss would be mad to accept a draw before all the overs are bowled.

Agnew was saying that they have a time limit on asking for a referral so that people don't have a chance to see the replay before deciding whether or not to refer.
What kind of stupid logic is that? I mean the whole point of it is to get rid of ridiculous errors. Sometimes these show up on the replay. The best time to decide whether or not to use a referral is after seeing it.

Ha ha ha.
Not the point, I'm just sure he is within his rights to appeal for them is all.
Referrals are a joke that cricket doesn't need.
