I'm sorry this Hinds chap is terrible against spin.
Its gonna get interesting whilst he's in - then Chanders and his understudy will lock this game down.

In a direct battle between the spinners, Panesar looks absolute dog-shit at the mo'.

##Once again - didn't matter in the end.holcs wrote:Well well well, this referal thingy gets more ridiculous.
Sarwan decision for LBW is referred, ball blatantly canoning into leg stump on the referral but there was apparently not conclusive evidence to overule. ....

As if the upcoming Ashes whitewash wasn't bad enough, an Aussie is going to play a part in taking the Wisden trophy off us as well...holcs wrote:I'm sorry this Hinds chap is terrible against spin.

Can't bowl on fifth day wickets. Fact.
England need at least four down at tea if they're going to pull this out of their arses, IMHO.
Re: West Indies v England, 5th Test, Port of Spain, Mar 6 - 10
Swann is ALL OVER Ryan Hinds, but I just know Hinds will end up not-out.

Excellent stuff, 35 overs to survive to win the series.
Great effort by the England spinners, Swann has been very very impressive I must admit.
Regardless of what happens, Darren Powell and Devon Smith have played their last test matches for the West Indies and that can only be good for our development.

No chance now, if we had two Swanns then maybe, but we've got an ugly duckling at the other end.

Its easier for Swann at present bowling at two lefties.
I think Monty has bowled well here, and should've had Sarwan earlier LBW IMO.
Hinds should go fairly quickly but he is having some serious luck at present!

Noice...
Chanders,Hinds,Nash,Ramdin,Gayle then Baker,Powell & Edwards to come. Nah, not on this pitch. We never 'do' these situations either, though we regularly fark it up in the last session of a test....
btw, 18 wickets for Swann in this series.

4 lefties are all batsman, which means its mainly on Swann, and then Monty comes to the party with the bowlers who are righties.

Well he has to have some luck to make up for his epic shiteness, doesn't he? I've never seen a worse player of spin, every ball he looks like he's going to get out. He just lunges forward with hard hands and even when he attacks he has no timing. Like I've been saying, he's bound to get a not-out with the way he's playing, but short of winning the game, getting him on the tour to England is the best bit of work England can do in this match! The same applies to Devon Smith and Lendl Simmons - they'll be fodder on early season English wickets.

Probably a bit too much to do now but still worth keeping watching. Makes a change for this series.

Chanders' near miss to Wobbles off the first ball he received was a bad omen for England.
Prior's keeping is still sh!t ... bails off as Hind's foot grounds doesn't count tw*t ... not when it's just been 2" airborne!
Swanny bowling well - as is Panesar - but too much to expect England bagging 7 wickets in the remaining 35 overs.

I've missed all the day's play so it was a pleasant surprise to get home and see that England had the balls to declare. Respect!

Whoever they bring, they will be dross apart from Gayle, Sarwan and Chanderpaul. And perhaps the Aussie who can stick around a bit. It's almost certain there will be at least two really weak links in their batting who could launch the Test career of some TAYPOC 75mph county swing bowler who gets a lucky call-up!Augustus wrote:holcs wrote:Its easier for Swann at present bowling at two lefties.

Might have been covered earlier (if so, apologies)
But how the f**k did Tiffin get back on the 'elite' umpires list? I'd have more faith in getting a reasonable decision out of Mugabe...

Simmonds and Barath to tour?
They really could do with a tall hit-the-deck bowler to compliment Taylor & Edwards

Well played Swanny!
Get Nash early and we could cause a bit of a wobble here....
Remember England collapsing in similar circumstances against Pakistan in 2001 - think we lost 8 wickets in the final session. Could WI do an England?
