Demelza wrote:I'm giving Anderson the prize for most improved player. I don't think he could've tried harder this series and when you take into account that he's had a bad tum, I think he's done really well. He's had a lot more fight about him and suddenly I feel I can take him seriously as a front line bowler.
He's generally bowled well for the last 18 months or so.
I think he's guaranteed to be one of our key bowlers for all of next summer mainly because he generally stays fit and usually manages to maintain good pace throughout all his spells, unlike most of our bowlers who seem to fade or crock themselves.
Plus, his conventional / reverse swing should be useful in English conditions.
Re: West Indies v England, 5th Test, Port of Spain, Mar 6 - 10
Khan must be the worst ever bowler to play for England.

Swanny has a piece of floating bone in his elbow joint, he's going home for an operation on it.

Why does Gayle get a runner after he bowled in England's second dig?

Oh good. I stop watching for a few hours to take care of some stuff and we completely fall apart.

Hmmmm, last review wasted on another decision that would have stood either way.
This review process is fairly ridiculous if you ask me. Lets get back to plain old human opinion and decisions me thinks.

dunno, Monty has Gayle in all sorts of trouble, and Ramdin looks hardly solid.
Drinks break and then England desperately need to open up an end very quickly in the last hour.

Review system - need to free up snicko and hotspot for the umpire.
Reduce the review to one per innings (or even two per entire match)? Basically just so their used to overturn glaring errors rather than this speculative stuff we're seeing...

mandatory overs start. will they continue if no wickets fall in the next 30 minutes?

They need more hotspot cameras as at the moment there aren't enough to have them at every venue. At the moment it's in use in SA but not in the Windies, the powers that be want the same technology to be available at all times. Not sure why snicko isn't being used. The Sky commentators were saying yesterday they weren't listening to the stump mikes either which seems bizarre.

Its because the ICC only ask for the noise from the home broadcaster halfway through I heard.

If they have to have reviews, that's how I'd do it. Just the one - make it count.

Is, was, and always will be.
Don't know how he's ended up on the "Elite" umpires panel again after being dumped a few years ago for being mind-blowingly incompetent.
But here he is...
