An absolute stack. I'll never be able to look at threads with 'Davies' in the title ever again. Ever.
So HTF am I gunna know that Stephen Davies has suddenly decided to live up to his hype? Watch him? Read Cricinfo? go to stephendavies.com?
Re: Davies' eyes open!
Should that happen, someone will pm you. The rest of us can continue to debate the fortunes of the sleeping giant in the midlands.

Re: Davies' eyes open!
I don't see how anyone would like to be in Derby's place. You go to a match every week and wonder by how many you're about to be beaten. What's the fun in that?
Undoubtedly, envious glances will be cast in their direction when they splash the exorbitant number of pennies they receive for being worst ever losers in the summer, but for the time being, no-one cares.

Because we're one of the 20 best teams in the country. If we buy in Jan and stay up, we'll be lower mid table next season. If we go down, we'll be straight back up and hopefully make a better fist of it.
That's why anyone would like to be in our place.

Re: Davies' eyes open!
Wow. Two great pieces of news on the bbc's rumour mill:
Derby boss Billy Davies is hoping to sign six new players in the transfer window with Portsmouth striker David Nugent top of his list. (Various)
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted he would be tempted by the prospect of a move to Spanish giants Barcelona. (Various)
And one piece of news that could go either way (if they give us lots of cash):
Derby are reported to be in takeover talks with Shamrock Holdings, an American company owned and run by Roy Disney, nephew of Walt. (Various)
Derby and Disney. It's like a beautiful fairytale.

Nugent? He'll score you a few goals - when you're back in the championship playing at a level he doesn't look so hopelessly out of his depth in.
What a pile of dung.
What a pile of dung.
Re: Davies' eyes open!
He's looked good at U21 level and he can't be that bad if he's been called into the senior England squad at his age.
He just can't play at Portsmouth because Benjani, Utaka and Kanu have all done so well.

Is this the same as how Kenny Miller was going to rocket you to safety?

And, when he has played for Portsmouth, he's been a pile of dung.
Harry's been trying to flog him almost from the moment he signed him, saw him up close and went "Christ on a bike! Six million - what was I thinking?".
As for using a surprise England call-up during an injury crisis as a measure of a player's ability, two words: Michael Ricketts.

Michael Ricketts. Cor. I wonder where he is now. He was a superstar for a season or so.

Re: Davies' eyes open!
Like a lesser Kevin Phillips. One great season and then...not much else.
Apparently Ricketts has played for 10 clubs in the last 5 years and scored 14 goals in that time.

Billy Davies' eyes might be wide open but I doubt he saw that coming!

Rumour has it that Mourinho's sorely tempted....
It's either Jose or Paul Ince.

Way back when, I had "Super Kick Off" for my SNES, and because they didn't have the rights to proper player names, they gave all the real players slightly modified versions of them.
Andy Cole would be something like Sandy Kool.
But my favourite was always Paul Mince.
I've never been able to look at him the same way since.
