Ramps to be recalled
Full story here: http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/slveng/content/current/story/314994.html
For Christ's sake surely this loser has had too many chances already! Bring on one of the many youngsters averaging 50 in county cricket.

Leo's actually sobbing with relief that his 6 year campaign has paid off. He'll be a changed man when the tears stop.
Re: Ramps to be recalled
Thickedge in championing a youngster shock.....
For what its worth, I want to win the series in SL, and if Ramps is the man to help us then fark the youngsters.

Love to see Ramps come up with a nice round blob . . . (well, I don't really, but the reaction would be worth reading).

Aye. There's this angel thats sitting on my shoulder shouting 'Why the fark are you advocating recalling a 38year old who failed in 52 tests 8 years ago.'
But I think he'll make more runs than Strauss in SL.
It's worth a go - even in the short term.

Re: Ramps to be recalled
If this means Bell or Strauss won't play, then welcome back Ramps. I'm not sure it will work, but all that matters to me is short-term results. If Ramps is one of the best batsman, he has two or three years in him.
Unfortunately, I think it will mean Shah doesn't get a game, when he clearly should.

Poor Leo. His hopes will be sky-high after this. And either way, re selection, he seems doomed to disappointment.

My sentiments exactly, winning matches is what matters. You pick the best players available at the time regardless of their ages.

Re: Ramps to be recalled
I think you have to have a certain eye on the future, but there has got to be room for at least one oldie in form who wont be around much longer.
He may well fail and you'll get people drone on about how wrong it was to pick someone who averages 27
Worth a go IMO,and I probably wasn't in favour but I've changed my mind looking at the way our top order in the ODI's have struggled in those conditions.

Re: Ramps to be recalled
Wont anyone spare a thought for Owais Shah? Ramps will almost certainly have to play if they pick him in the squad- As if they'll pick him and make him carry the drinks; and poor old Owais will miss out on his chance again. A chance he deserves more than Ramps.
Im 95% sure that Vaughan doesnt want Ramps in the squad, and his opinion must surely count for something. Moores will do the decent thing and stand by his captain, meaning good 'ol David Graveney will have to flex his muscles and state that Ramprakash WILL be picked. It can only lead to divisions and tensions.

I still think it won't happen.
It would be a fairytale if he got recalled and hit a match-winning ton against Murali though.

Why? He's been OK in the ODI's but he hasn't done enough to demand inclusion in the test side IMO. If we are going to compare recent FC performances Ramps stats trounce those of Owais.

He's averaged more than 27 at least. Still cant believe we're going with this "Ramps is making runs! Get him back in there!" theme. It's soooo mid 90's.
