Onions, ye thoughts then?
Ashes start or not?
I think he has something about him. Stump to stump for the most part - think he could be useful on an uneven wicket and one with some good bounce.
Just think he tends to overdo the short of length ball a bit.

Yes. I think he will get 15 wickets in the series.

From what I can tell so far he oscillates between frighteningly accurate, landing ball after ball in a threatening spot, to spraying it around like Peter North with an out-of-control firehose from spell to spell with no apparent reason for this discrepancy. Is this a fair summation?

Can't see why he wouldn't start the first Ashes Test. Same goes for him as for Bopara in the batting line-up, you can't draw too many conclusions about how good he really is against a weak and disinterested WI side but he's looked lively and done all that's been asked of him so far, and deserves his chance.
Of course Sidebottom and maybe even Harmison will come into the selectors' thoughts, but Flintoff (if fit) for Bresnan should be the only change for Cardiff from the current match.

No--brainer not to pick him for the first test.
Gets in close to the stumps, so doesn't have to produce extravagent movement, and bowls at a decent pace. He's also got his own hair.

Wasn't Gunther the pathetic loser in Friends? The guy who worked in the coffee shop and had a thing for Rachel, and had even less success than Ross?

Re: Onions, ye thoughts then?
He'll play the first ashes test. The question is- Will it be Sidebottom or Flintoff who plays as the 4th seamer? If both are fully fit, i'd be tempted to go with Sidebottom ahead of Flintoff, unless Flintoff scores some good runs in county cricket before the first test (assuming he's fit enough to get on to the park). Sidebottom at his best should be one of the first picked in the England side, imo. I feel they've constantly tried to rush him back into the side after injury this last year, though. If he's bowling 85mph+ and swinging it, he plays at Cardiff ahead of Flintoff, imo.

Re: Onions, ye thoughts then?
Fixed.
(I've been wanting to say that since I joined this crazy sitcom.)
Onions - part of the Lily family. No wonder he's such a promising bowler.
