Meh, I'd forgotten I had a signature.
It says "I don't want your heart, I want your kidney". From an absolutely hilarious (not intentional) news piece I saw once.

Re: Indian squad for the WI tour
SG, you keep referring to an FTB, whom do you mean? Raina isn't in the squad. Gambhir? Surely not when you compare him with some of the lemons pressing the Indian bench.
Apart from the fact that this ODI tour is absolutely superfluous in terms of cricketing value, both for the players and their fans, it enhances the fatigue factor Kirsten just ostracised the BCCI for. As far as I understand, it has been arranged to bolster WI finances. For those who remember, India had undertaken to support the WICB a few years back and even went as far as organizing a tour to Canada with the WI. That fell flat because of some Canadian misgivings. I reckon this tour is a fulfilment of that promise. However, its my guess that even the unfaltering Indian visual media, which brings in the bulk of the finances, may be feeling the financial fatigue, considering the time difference of presently nine and a half hours between the two regions..
With the monsoon setting in, it would have been the ideal time to give the core of the Indian team some much needed rest and a bit of family life. But I guess the lure of the $$$$s (or their share of it in this case) is just too irresistible for the BCCI.

Re: Indian squad for the WI tour
I believe M. Vijay, S. Badrinath and A. Nayar may not be available for the first ODI starting at Sabina on the 26th as they had to wait for their UK transit visas. They are expected to arrive today. From those available (13) I guess one medium pacer and Karthik/Jadeja will be left out of the playing eleven. However, if they are available, I’d include Nayar as a trial in place of Karthik/Jadeja.
Holding seems to suggest that the short-pitched deliveries that did the trick at bouncy Lords won’t work in the WI. More so as Fidel Edwards will be out of both matches at Sabina.
For the 1st ODI I think it’ll be:
Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Jadeja/Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Ashish Nehra

SG wrote:And thankfully, Nayar got selected this time around. He should have been there before that FTB (who as I've said and has been proved so many times) is simply not good enough to play at int'l level.
Whether Nayar gets to play is another matter.
Virat Kohli should have been selected. He seems to be in fine form and he didn't do too bad in his last international outings to be dropped from the squad even when vacancies are there.
And why was Sreesanth not chosen? His contribution and coming back to form would have been more valuable for India than Nehra's.

Badrinath - How long are we going to keep faith in this dude ?
M Vijay - Has he done anything noticable in ODIs ? Has a good technique based on test showing and seems to be a good fielder. Not sure about his ODI credentials.

Besides, in WI conditions in June and July, Praveen Kumar and Ishant Sharma are definite assets. One or two spinners would depend on the pitch conditions. It is right at the start of the hurricane season and I hope the tour is completed as planned.

Absolutely terrible timing for Indians here. Don't think I'll be able to watch the second inning of any of the matches.

CI's probable XI, considering all the points you mentioned is:
1 Gautam Gambhir,
2 Dinesh Karthik,
3 MS Dhoni (capt & wk),
4 Yuvraj Singh,
5 Rohit Sharma,
6 Yusuf Pathan,
7 Ravindra Jadeja,
8 Harbhajan Singh,
9 Ishant Sharma,
10 RP Singh,
11 Ashish Nehra.
Wonder why they left PK out of the team!
West Indies (likely):
1 Chris Gayle (capt),
2 Runako Morton,
3 Ramnaresh Sarwan,
4 Shivnarine Chanderpaul,
5 Dwayne Bravo,
6 Darren Bravo,
7 Denesh Ramdin (wk),
8 Jerome Taylor,
9 Ravi Rampaul,
10 Suleiman Benn,
11 Lionel Baker
