Rules Football - how camp can you get?!?! snorfle
In Setanta's dying days, I happened to spot a Rules game (Collingwood Closeteers v Sydney Double-Teapots, I think).
Well, really!!
Those dinky retro supertight cutoffs, those fetching singlets showing the manly-man shoulders (oooo!), .. and all that feeling and fumbling around on the ground with the ball and pawing and ferocious patting each other, and posing and flouncing generally.
It's like a gang happy slapping session in a bathhouse.
Or a collective closet-liberation party version of rugby for absolute butches.
It's so outrageously campishly gay, Graham Norton and Julian Clary would almost be ashamed even to look - the sheer scandalousness of it all!
I am all for gay pride, and equal opportunities, but this is taking things a bit far, surely? Have they no shame?
No wonder, if they can't get a goal, they "go for a behind" .... it's worth one point.
I like the rule where you can take a kick wherever you like behind the point of the mark, though. Would be good in all ball (and no stick) sports, to speed thighs up and keep them honest.

I've had this argument back on C4 when 'gayball' gets mentioned.

Well, the point needs to be made on a regular basis.
There is only one contender for the crown of Festiveball sport.

Doubt you'll get a response, MS, everyone who knows anything about gay culture (ie, the GayFL boys), will be able to spot Peter's above attempt to hook up a public toilet tryst as just that . . .

Snigger > chortle
Perhaps "reprisals" should have "rsvps".
Pete's observations were remarkably familiar.

So PCS's gay lover has flounced and he's trawling the web looking for a rent boy? The only surprise there is the person doing the looking.

I think the game was actually invented to sap public school boys of their energy, so the gay theory may have some credence. They used to play it on fields a mile and a half long.

I'm from Sydney, so I found the opening post mildly amusing.
But I will stick up for our southern brothers when it comes to a standoff with soccer.
Aussie Rules players are tough. Probably not as tough as players from either Rugby code, but they finish a match with plenty of bruises.
Soccer players get a sore head occasionally and constantly writhe around on the ground after falling over themselves.
Both sports obviously have a lot going for them, but soccer loses out in the toughness stakes.

First thought I had about Aussie Rules was how homoerotic it all looks.
Even the ref, when he signals a goal, looks like he's telling the assembled gay horde how long his dick is.
