8 venues, 29 matches
thats what india gets for WC2011. 8 additional matches from the 14 pakistan was supposed to host. that means an average of 3-4 matches for each venue, which is much better than the one match each for a zillion venues in 1996

I noticed that all the show posturing, blackmailing and ranting by PCB against ICC and other Asian boards have stopped now that the other 3 boards have assured them the same money for hosting rights without having to stage a single one of them [$10.8 mil].

Naah. It's Australia's turn to get the outsource contract this time. I believe CA has done enough to merit a place in the pet poodles list of BCCI...

Good choice of venues. Bound to be packed. What about the venues in BD and SL?The One wrote:venues (all 8 test venues) - Mumbai, Delhi, Mohali, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Nagpur
Also what happens if the Paksters have to play in Ahmedabad? Throws up a whole set of new questions.

Apart from Punter, fine. Gotta go back in two days. Lords or Turnberry is the question?

Likely 2 in Colombo (SC and Premadassa) and Galle. BD could be 2 in Dakka with their new stadium complete (How about Chittagong?). Just a guess.

Sorry I think that England and Wales in May would be perfect for the IPL.

Very good choice for the venues. And the Wankhede stadium will be renovated one for the WC. I think capacity would be much more than what it originally had?
And thank God that Kolkata is included. It has been ages since we had a match at Edens.

not much more capacity since its in a highly developed area with no extra space. but a very modern stadium. the old wankhede has been totally demolished

Good to know that not every obscure ground is getting to host the matches.
Afterall, these are WC matches, should be awarded only to test centres.
