October 19th
1998
Australia stayed on course for their first series win in Pakistan since 1959-60, when a draw in the second Test at Peshawar left them 1-0 up with one to play. The match was notable for Mark Taylor's unbeaten 334 - he declared on himself at the end of the second day - which equalled the highest Test score by an Australian, made by Don Bradman at Headingley in 1930. As the match petered out on the final day Taylor made 92 to become only the second man to score 400 runs in a Test, after Graham Gooch, who made 333 and 123 for an aggregate of 456 against India at Lord's in 1990.
This, though, is where the similarities ended. Whereas Gooch used to keep reasonably svelte by taking amphetamines in-between his bulimic binges, Taylor just kept on eating and eating. It came to a head just before the Third Test in Karachi, when he'd gorged on so many stuffed parathas he vomitted approximately 16 parathas out of his nose. Ironically this gave him a speech impediment in which he could not pronounce 'Paratha'. Mortified, he booked into the nearest Karachi hospital for emergency nose surgery and liposuction. Fortunately for him, after a poor first innings he started to feel the benefits of a lighter frame in a laboured 68. He was so senimental that he deliberatly got out on that score as apparently "The Don was out on 68 on the date I was born, back in 1936".

Well, I thought I'd give you a rest - besides which, they don't tell the whole story all of the time. Which is why I channel 'Murgers' through my cat.
Re: October 19th
I never get the whole story - you obviously have the inside line.
You're like Piers Morgan.
You're like Piers Morgan.

Piers Morgan gives Brian Murgatroyd a psychic blow-job 10,000 miles away for info?
I thought I was unique.

Nice, I'm not him then. Well, not in 2007 anyway.
