haven't checked yet WW!!!
did I blab re that at some stage or have you done some homework???
Poor old Ken still remains deluded about the Roman influence on the origins of cricket...
btw he is terrific on radio...one of the great things about this book - which I have not yet acquired - is its focus on backlanes and byways of cricket...apparently has heaps of stuff about junir and park cricket

Re: New Ken Piesse book is out
he also told a couple of great hidden stories
two were about the enmity between Ian Johnson and Keith Miller.
the first was re a punch up between the two after IJ did not bowl an erratic Miller in a test where the opposition bats were on top.
the second was in England...at the end of a days play in (presumably) the lords' test, both showered and got changed into formal dinner suits...one player asked IJ where he was off to...I am off to 10 Downing St for dinner with the PM (rest of team suitably impressed)...then another asked KM where he was off to..."off to Buckingham Palace for tea with the royals' was the reply which gazzumped IJ

Aye, you mentioned it here one day when obviously high on kero fumes. However, I have read some of the stories & you should be proud of such an association.

cheers ww - cripes clearly the kero had got to me ...this year marks the 30th anniversary of that team's existence
'
while we did have the odd bit of talent in the team, our true speciality was witty sledging...eg when playing a team representing the Stock Exchange (our natural enemy) our rallying call was .."They're all ordinaries"
