Aussies: name your top England side of the last 30 years!
I'd expect you to have Gooch, Gower, Botham, Fred and maybe Goughie.
Well?
Well?

if two of the darts players snuck back to the pub, I'd certainly call on Willis and Gatting (not just because of more reprises of that ball)...if the third and 4th claimed they'd had too many pints Alan Knott (great keeper) and Alec Stuart

Knotty

Gough

Pretty hard actually - the spin bowling is appalling. With Both there you could justify 2 spinners but my next best spinner is probably Tuffers.
Can't find a spot for Freddie - he isn't a better bowler than Gough, Fraser and Chook nor a better batsman than Beefy.
The other thing is that the personalities in the team would pretty much make it disfunctional.
Should add that I think the 2002-3 Aust Ashes side (from the first 2 tests at least) would beat this lot.

As I am technically half Aussie as well, I feel I have a right to post a team here too.

I've stuck with English born cricketers.
Thorpe and Bob Taylor are unlucky to miss out.

If Ramps had played for England for the past 3 years he would now be averaging 50.

The Gough/Hendrik pairing is because I'd like the rider that Gough plays in Australian conditions and Hendrik in England where it is more likely to swing. No other spinner apart from Underwood is worthy. Emburey extracted a bit of bounce in Aussie conditions but had a bit of success when the WSC players were missing. Apart from him there have been a succession of guys like Croft and Such who were truly terrible and the eccentric Tufnell doesn't tick too many boxes.
I liked the idea of Vaughan because he seemed to bat pretty well in Aussie conditions.
It's a pity you didn't extend the window, in which case Snow would be eligible.

I though Knotty and Deadly had retired by 1980 but I see that just make the 30 year cut-off. Spose I should find a spot for 'em. Although I'm happy enough with the Guv opening and keeping, but I'd replace Embers with Deadly.

Although I'm happy enough with the Guv opening and keeping
I think he averaged a mere 29 with the bat when doing that.

And possibly less against Australia.

Although opening the batting without the gloves, he averaged around 45, so there's an argument for him being in there as a specialist opener.

Yup, stuttered like a stuttery thing when the pressure of his 100 hundreds was on....

One must have Stewie opening, without the gloves. It was an unshackled, cover-driving beast - making mincemeat of the world's best fast bowlers even on decks that were doing a bit.

I assume that's some kind of a joke. A player is not of test quality because he was nervous when approaching his 100th first class 100.

Only half joking tya, Ramps has never been mentally strong enough for test cricket and the way he struggled in the face of media limelight to get that 100th may have shown that.
