Does Monty deserve the MBE more than Colly?
Monty's batting in the first test probably had more impact on this series than Colly's in '05.

Well, his innings did have a direct impact on the outcome of the match and series, whereas we might still have done it in 2005 without Colly hanging around with KP for a while.
Anyway, there was no judgement on individual contributions last time, everyone who played a Test got the same award... it's just a question of whether they do the same again, in which those who weren't involved last time would get an MBE and those who were would have to get a higher award. Have they set a precedent? Problem with that if they have, is that a sustained period of Australian crapness would lead to dozens of England cricketers with knighthoods!

Definitely- the MBE is just like one of those medals Dick Dasterdly pins on Muttley. We should all have one.

You've forgotten that Collingwood was actually the main reason England drew the first test with his 60 odd.

Rob didn't know that. He just skims the paper and presumes.

Nevertheless, it was good to see Monty amongst the revellers in the dressingroom yesterday.
He played his part - fair do's ... and Strauss did mention him in dispatches in his post-match interview with Athers.
