Gary Ablett. Under the theory that the umps lean towards the more visible players.

Nah, the umpires will penalise Swan for his tatoos. Luke Ball will be a surprise winner.
Gazza will inevitably finish 2nd.

Re: Brownlow 2009
my fondness for cigars aside like a certain ex seppo prez, my last thoughts are - ablett to come = 3rd with selwood, Goodesy to win...
Other predictions
Judds partner to fall asleep courtesy of the sleeper hold applied affectionately by Juddy,
Gazza senior to be a surprise guest at both the brownlow, a born again chapel in the city and then the city watch house - as a result of being wrongly charged with slipping Mrs Juddy a mickey (and not an O'Loughlin)
terry wallace to pick up the only vote recorded by a tiger in the first 11 rounds
the human stadium head (eddyhead mcguire) to call on the afl to ensure next years draw more fairly treats the Pies and Dayne Swan by limiting pies games to 11 each against melb and the tiges and requiring umps to award bog to the bloke with the best tatts...
Freo and the drug and beagles being invited to send players to the count.
etc

Re: Brownlow 2009
It's all gownlow now with the blue carpet dominating the actual count. Brunettes seemed to have taken over an event that used to be considered the spot a brunette among all the plastic blondes night. A worldwide poll suggests that men much prefer them so maybe women are catching the hint.
Back to the vote, I'm still sticking with Ablett. Will be interesting to see if he's looking morose at the end if the vote doesn't go his way.
Swan should pick up a lot as he was ubiquitous through most of the rounds, the perennial vote-getters like Judd, Goodes, Black and maybe even a Cooney should figure, while Montagna and Dal Santo should also poll well. Riewoldt has had a very good year but it's a midfielder's medal so his teammates will probably rob him. Hayes may poll a few as well.
I don't fancy Boyd whom some think of as a dark horse because he's unobstrusive despite wearing a Footscray guernsey; they've polled disproportionately well over the years. Vince is many people's outsider.
There's been a long shot plunge on Rich but it's hard to see him getting over the line.

Re: Brownlow 2009
Now that's a blast from the past:
A man who was perfectly suited to owning the Sydney Swans.
Geoffrey Edelsten
Geoffrey Walter Edelsten (born 2 May 1943) is an Australian medical entrepreneur and was the first private owner of a major Australian football team when he bought the Sydney Swans Football Club in 1985.[1] Edelsten was a former general practitioner and was deregistered for practising in New South Wales in 1988 and also in Victoria. He subsequently spent a year in jail for soliciting an underworld figure, Christopher Dale Flannery, to assault a former patient, and for perverting the course of justice.[2][3][4]
Edelsten was known as a flamboyant entrepreneur in the 1980s, transforming the idea of what a doctor's surgery was with chandeliers, grand pianos and 24 hour opening.[5] He also had mink-covered examination benches, mansions and a fleet of Rolls-Royces and Lamborghinis sporting number plates such as Macho, Spunky and Sexy.
A man who was perfectly suited to owning the Sydney Swans.
