Owais Shah: It's time to dump Flailing Bails
"Nothing but a crowd of cavilling inadequates", he was heard to murmur on his way to the pavilion.

Re: Owais Shah: It's time to dump Flailing Bails
I only get "bitter" (your favourite word of the moment?) on FB at corrosive bitterness, e.g. bickering, acid-pit bellyaching and "hurler-on-the-ditch" fulminating about how useless players W, X, Y, Z and Alpha are said to be.
Which you are neatly continuing with personalised comments, as far as I can see.
Agreeing that Shah is still a surprisingly shocking judge of a run, this thread was meant as a characteristic FB turn on another thread. ("It's time for England to dump Shah", and the similarly light-hearted, satirical "It's time to dump" if that was not sufficiently clear).
Whereas, have you been drinking too much VB lately?

Hey, you're the one suggesting dumping FB or changing the name to Flaming Curmudgeons.
Sure, you might mean it as a joke, but do it too often and perceptions change.
Maybe you need a drink yourself.

And FTR, I wasn't the one who drew the comparison, either.

Re: Owais Shah: It's time to dump Flailing Bails
I am not suggesting any dumping. I was reflecting on Shah's almost farcical run (or failure to run), and how grim his thoughts must be - and that he won't be enjoying the comments and scorn heaped on him as a result of his mishaps. Hence the opening post.
I didn't think, given the relatively rich humour of FB, that was too difficult to work out?
As for suggesting a change of name for the FB - did you honestly take that as a serious proposal? The serious kernel was as mentioned above. Surprised how the moaning and spleen-venting, nitpicking etc. seemed as rife again as in the worst days of C4.. Cricket is s serious game, meaning a lot, but it's still a game, which even for the most passionate supporter shouldn't mean so much that it consumes and enrages people, surely?
Maybe we disagree on this?
What I want is not a drink, but sleep. So g'night!

You think I was being serious? I was merely pointing out a seeming trend in your recent posts. I would hardly say I was enraged, hat would require bold type or caps...PeterCS wrote:Cricket is s serious game, meaning a lot, but it's still a game, which even for the most passionate supporter shouldn't mean so much that it consumes and enrages people, surely?

I was talking of the tired and easy rubbishing of players, JK, not forummer-centred internecine shitfests.
Nevertheless, now you mention it ... it seems it doesn't take long for one of the latter to break out, or be broken out, when there's no cricket on especially.
But hey, ... what's life for?

Re: Owais Shah: It's time to dump Flailing Bails
Well, I agree with you in some regards Pete. To rubbish one of the only batsmen in our team with unmechanical class and a propensity for big shots as well as to turn the strike over is a bit ridiculous. However, it's their opinion so are within their rights to post a thread about it. I mean, there's some whinging shite about two teams probably not making the World Cup - you don't see me lobbing a diatribe in about it

Doesn't that require running between the wickets
