Why is Pakistan such a horrible ODI team?

Test cricket is a different animal(you have to play certain # of games to get better) but why is the ODI team so bad?


Last 3 series have all been DEFEATS to SL(twice) and AUS
before that they won 3 nil vs WI and the kitply cup in BD
In 2007 they lost to IND, SA(twice) and lost in the first round of the WC, the only series win was against SL.


Its especially surprising considering the fact the PAK T20 side is by far the best in the world.

calm down. they may be current champions but they are not the best side in the world. both SA and IND have better T20 teams.

PAK have the trophy AND a better win percentage than both IND and SA

Despite all the batting talent India have actually turned in to quite an average T20 side, i will even put NZ ahead of India.

its all down to opinions but i think most would agree that SA and india have better all-round sides. they, and aus, were the 3 big favourites and them not getting through helped pak win. regardless, pak is not BY FAR the best side in the world as you stated.

actually i used facts

PAK have played 25 games won 19 and lost 5
Win percentage of 79

IND have win % of 56 while SA have a win % of 67

Pakistan also have the trophy...


Easy call for me.

Maybe they need to play more cricket...

Maybe other sides need to let them play more cricket.

Smashed NZ in the 1st ODI and lost the next 2 and then came back to win both T20 matches.

Afridi as the ODI captain may be?

They should consider appointing Afridi as captain in all forms of the game. Of course, they'd have to convince him to play test cricket again. I never understood why he didn't get picked to play more test cricket. His record is as good as Flintoff's.

Afridi will be a misfit in the test team TBH as he isn't a good enough batsman to bat at # 6 and not as good a bowler as Saeed Ajmal

Fawad Alam is probably the best choice at # 6
