Re: Films you've watched recently.
Just watched Being John Malkovich . Outstanding, surreal and visually well presented. Very much like Mulholland Drive in terms of the exploration of the human psyche and restrictions that come with it. Being confined to one persona etc.
Favourite scene: All the Malkovich's in one room. Classic.
Also, the Secretary/Executive Liaison and her misinterpretation of everything Craig say's.

Woody can't or won't understand that the love scene on Titanic wasn't 2 chicks pashing . . .G.Wood wrote:DJ_Smerk wrote:Just watched Being John Malkovich . Outstanding, surreal and visually well presented. Very much like Mulholland Drive .

I suppose in BJM there is some sort of lesbian intimacy. Not in the same way as MD though.

I saw The Imaginarium of Dr Parnasuss last night and loved it. A mixture of Baron Munchhausen and the Seven Faces of Dr Loa.
And I still adore Christopher Plummer as much as I did when I first saw The Sound of Music.

I've given up telling friends "The Sound of Music" is my favourite movie. Blokes I've known for years start tightening their sphincter muscle and mutter things like 'he doesn't look gay'.

It's set in Austria ...
I haven't read this thread for a while; and can't recall if I or anyone else nominated 'the World's fastest Indian' as a top movie ... great performance by Hopkins.

I saw Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen recently (my daughter's boyfriend gave me the DVD). A bit of harmless fluff (the movie as well). Must have cost a sh!tload in CGI but.

That's the good thing about being a Dad. If you'd told me ten years ago i would've found 'Finding Nemo', 'Shrek', or 'Toy Story' engaging I would've said you're out of your mind.

All these kids films are too much of a rollercoaster of emotions for me. Even when cuddling Snuggles the teddy bear.
Re: Films you've watched recently.
According to my 3 "Up" is 'dead funny', they saw it at the weekend.
Shrek is adorable, I watch it on my own with the curtains drawn as often as possible.

Re: Films you've watched recently.
When my son and I saw Bolt at the pictures we ended up clutching each other and bawling our eyes out. When we rented the DVD, we sat through it dry eyed. At the end, we both couldn't work out why we cried so much at the pictures.
I bought Defiance last week. I loved it at the pictures, so I'm hoping it doesn't lose too much on DVD.

Saw "A guide to recognizing your saints" earlier. Hmmmm. I like the music. Interesting film. Robert Downey Jnr is a really good actor. I like him.

I've been analysing Clerks, My Own Private Idaho and sex, lies and videotapes. Three very gritty, subtle and straight to the point indie films. All worth checking out.

43.
These lists do tend to be fairly meaningless and subjective so shouldn't take it too seriously- Team America world police at 5 is bit random, the Bourne films at number 2 is a bit questionable and a French film I've never heard of at no. 1 does give the impression of a film critic showing off.
