Re: Time for a music thread
Arty McGlynn is from the same part of the country (even the same town, I think). Here playing some class of an amplified axe.
Fabulous soloist or accompanist, for the same reasons that made Paul Brady outstanding.

wistful reflection, loss, and impending tragedy all painted unforgettably by a master; WGAF about the scraggly voice?

Classic piece of footage showing Rick Danko (The Band) Janis Joplin & Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead) having a drunken jam session on a train between gigs.
No doubt all three are jamming still, up on high.

Re: Time for a music thread
Just because like, the next time I listen to this song it will preceed me seeing the best live band on the planet. Saturday can't come sooner.

The various stills of wolves are a bit banal (sorry lucifer1306!) , but anyway ....
"I had a dream ... of a night of the wolves"
I've always liked this one. The guitar wailing is effectively intense, the bass underlining of the chorus good, but it is the two violins with rotating speakers that make the song memorably eerie, howling.

Re: Time for a music thread
This BECAME a folk song in Sweden. "She came over the hill".
A similar "ground" (in the sense used for Renaissance music - an underlying drone effect), but this time with a saxophone break.
Play it twice, ... addictively atmospheric. That's why a progrock tune became popular folk music.

I did'nt know The Band had reformed?
Re: Time for a music thread
Oddly maybe, it's the bass line that makes this track talk. The late Mick Karn.

Re: Time for a music thread
You can never see enough maps of Tassie. And many of them are worth singing about.

Re: Time for a music thread
The old fella is touring down this way soon. Think i might get along to catch the show. He's always been a great entertainer.
Re: Time for a music thread
Great Aussie balladeer from the seventies. Had a couple of big hits & then faded into obsurity as so many of them do. No video for this one but a great song.
