Re: India v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Ahmedabad, Nov 16-20
Good lesson for all the top heavy junkies in the Indian team who think they have earned a permanent place in the team once they have scored a few runs and then can put up their feet and relax. Sehwag and GG need to be taken to task for their careless batting of late. Also it's high time the crappy Indian media and sensationlism hungry fans stopped taking every stupid 'record' or 'statistic' seriously. The whole of past 2 weeks, the team, fans and media alike have gone overboard with Sachin completing '20 years on cricket' and Sachin going to score his 'XXX000' international runs in cricket and what not. The focus no wonder was not on the series and on avoidable things. Dhoni as a leader instead of setting an example has been setting the rot with leading the way to late night partying before the Hyderabad ODI against Aus so one wonders what his priorities now are and why the BCCI has not punished him and his cohorts for the same.

The team lacks both focus and application undoubtedly and both the team and BCCI are to blame for this.....

It doesn't help that the pitch is an absolute road and that there is barely anyone watching at the ground.

I'd say a certainty for 12000 test runs, considering he is not even 33 yet.a certainty for 10,000 test runs

So India should be ready to lose a test for the first time in more than 15 months.
What a pity!!! Last time India lost a test was again at this very ground.

Highest ever 6th wicket partnership is 346 between Don Bradman and Jack Fingleton at MCG in '37 against Eng. And these 2 have already added 323 for the 6th wicket.

Only a few short months ago the Indians here were claiming that India was up with SA and Aus as a test nation.

I reckon a 300 lead will be enough. They really should be throwing the bat around at the moment to give themselves enough time but obviously Jaya is playing for the 300.
I wonder if they will even let Jaya go for 400.

Actually, they aren't far from the WR 6th wicket partnership either. Currently it is 346 between Bradman and Fingleton.

India has done very well in tests of late, losing only 3 tests (and just 1 series) in almost 3 years. And that after having this 'attack' for most of that period.
Thats a very good record whichever way you look at it.

Or should we hope for some of Mumbai's share of rainfall to go to Gujarat.

We somehow managed to lose a test series in Aus and won a series in Eng. We didn't play in SA during this period.taipan wrote:SG wrote:India has done very well in tests of late, losing only 3 tests (and just 1 series) in almost 3 years. And that after having this 'attack' for most of that period.

Just as well given your pathetic record in SA.

Mishra currently has the equal 6th worst bowling figures of all time. If he concedes another 10 runs for no wicket he'll be 3rd worst.
I'm a bit torn between wanting a Banindian to have the worst ever figures and the imminent loss of the legendary Bradman-Fingleton record.

Must have been some interesting discussions between overs in the course of that stand.

So we should play a test series in SA every year?taipan wrote:SG wrote:We somehow managed to lose a test series in Aus and won a series in Eng.
