Will there be a tinge of green to greet the opening bowlers on the first morning?

Mumbai has history of supporting seam bowlers in tests. OK, that was at Mumbai's regular test venue, but Mumbai being so near to sea may help this venue as well to aid seam bowlers.

Careful.
The ultra sensitive ones on here might take umbrage and deem you a racist for lapping the concrete green rather than any other colour.
PS: (In Fawlty whisper) ... And don't mention thewar chappattis...

So Gambhir misses this test to attend his sister's wedding. Is that borderline an unnaceptable excuse?

For me, it is.Henry wrote:So Gambhir misses this test to attend his sister's wedding. Is that borderline an unnaceptable excuse?
He is not just team's best batsman, but also world's best batsman. You just can't miss a test match like that despite being fully fit.
I just hope he (as well as India) doesn't rue his decision 5 days later.

Sanga finally wins a toss and SL would be batting first.

In between few great balls, Sree is spraying it all over.

Is this pitch gonna hold up as a road throughout, sg, or is it another over-prepared pitch that will start to break up late day 2 or early day 3?

This isn't a road by any stretch of imagination.
There has been movement for both Sree and Zaheer. Just that they're able to bowl only very few good deliveries in the first hour which have been safely neogotiated by both batsmen.
Both Parana and Dilshan have been excellent so far.

you've gotta expect a bit of movement first morning of a test even on a road, sg, you can't say it's not a road based on the first 10 overs

You called this road on the basis of first 10 overs in your last comment.you can't say it's not a road based on the first 10 overs.

Not much. But enough to induce that edge from Parana.
Got to get Sanga early.

Seems to be an indecent amount of spin for a first day pitch.
