Hangover Avoidance Formula
As the party season gets underway, here is one way to avoid a hangover. As we get older our capacity to drink without getting drunk tends to increase. But sadly, as our brains die off with age, our capacity to not feel hungover the next morning actually gets worse. So although at the time of the party you may be less inebriated on the same amount as you drank when younger, you will actually feel rougher the next day. Here is my handy formula for calculating how much you can imbibe in an evening without risking a headache the next day. It assumes you are an adult male and drink fairly regularly, but not often to excess.
10 - [(age - 18) ÷ 8]
Round the number up or down to the nearest whole number and that gives you the total alcohol units for one night. A pint of beer is 2 units (assuming it's not weak Aussie lager), and a glass of wine is 1 unit.

Suspect the denominator should be 16 or 32 ... surely not 8

The formula also needs to be adjusted to reflect any kebab or souvlaki consumed at 3 am, or bacon and egg fry-up at 8 ...

I've said it before, I'll say it again:
Wank, fry-up, bath. If you're not sweet by then, you're a f*cking lightweight.

According to that formula I can guzzle 2 pints a night - very sensible for my pocket and for my liver................ but totally unrealistic bearing in mind some of the nights out I'll be having in the next week or so.

Because we can.
Anyone who claims not to ever had a drink is not entitled to an opinion.

About anything?
What if the topic of conversation is "why would anyone be teetotal?"

That's the second simplest solution. The simplest is 'don't stop drinking'.

.
This is very similar to the forumula about the minimum socially acceptable age of a chick you want to shag. I think the accepted standard here at work is [Age / 2 +5] {subject to an abs min of 16}.
Must admit, the formula becomes less valid as I move through my 30s.

Especially at the end. You can get into all sorts of trouble if they aren't.
