Bell in Lions squad? WTF?
Just seen it in the sidebar
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/8450568.stm
Kieswetter included. Apparently James Tredwell will join up with the full squad after 4 games - FFS, desperate - a poor mans Paul Harris if ever there was one. Looks like they've decided Rashid offers up too much sh!te at this stage of his career.
Glad to see Wainwright included, he's miles better than Tredwell.
Oh, and Peter Trego?

Andrew Gale, Ian Bell, Michael Carberry, Michael Lumb, James Taylor, Craig Kieswetter, Steven Davies, Peter Trego, James Tredwell, Adil Rashid, Sajid Mahmood, Chris Woakes, Steven Finn, Steve Kirby, David Wainright.

Will Bell be captain? A reward for his recent endeavours?
And isn't a Trego a car?

Pete Trego is a talented cricketer. At least as good as Luke Wright.

Do you know any forums where cricketers like Bell hang out in.
surely they do forum as well, it's rather addictive, rather than just blow empty air on myspace or twitter.

Yorkshire's Andrew Gale is skipper
Trego is the poor man's Graham Napier. Nice tatoos though.

Bell is being given a chance to show his one-day mettle, it seems.

What, the mysterious "County Player"?JKLever wrote:Apparently Peter Trego used to forum on C4
I guess Bell's in here as it's a limited overs tour and he isn't in the full ODI setup at the moment, still seems a bit strange though given that he's in the Test side.

a poor mans Paul Harris
He's not that bad. I think you're being a bit harsh on Tredwell Lever. He was, after all, one of the leading wicker takers last season.

How young does one need to be to be a 'Lion'?
Steve Kirby turns 33 in 2010.

Desperate selection - if that's the best we can do, we are royally farked.
What happened to Chris Jordan then?

Re: Bell in Lions squad? WTF?
seems like they really rate Andrew Gale. Geoff Miller sounded positively gushing when he explained the choice of Gale as Lions captain. I think they want to get more guys in and around the England squad who could possibly take over from Strauss as captain. At the moment Cook is the only realistic option.

Re: Bell in Lions squad? WTF?
Well Gale's got the most important job in cricket next year, so lets see how he does with that. If he's alright England can have him now and then - if he's really good he'll have to stay with Yorkshire.
Re: Bell in Lions squad? WTF?
He hasn't got much of a first class record, but then neither did Trescothick or Vaughan......

Aye, and when he gets past it he'll probably end up moving down south to some backwater like Gough and Middlebrook did.
