"Working with our manager Matthew Maynard would help him get back to being one of the best bowlers in the world."

Cant see him ever playing for England again, unfortunately.

Why would you even consider a county contract though? He's done nothing to suggest he's fit enough to remain on the park for more than 1 match in 3.
And even then he looks scared witless everytime he runs in to bowl....
Whats even the most basic county pro earn - £15-20,000?

I suppose he's young enough to take a gamble on for an ambitious side like Hants (who have money to throw around).
Perhaps a combination of Warney and Bruce Reid can piece him back together...?

Re: Simon Jones - signing for Hants?
A change of scenery may be for the best.
In a pro40 game at Derby about 2 months ago he was still capable of 85-6mph and had a lovely seam position.
The last time I saw him was less promising, looked like the bowling run up was covered in smashed glass...
Easier said because i'm not him but I think he's got to go for it 100% and risk a career ending injury or he won't even have a county career the way he's going.
He did say in an interview - judge him next year. Safe to say if he's still running in like he was this year, it's time to quit

He's a proud Welshman, so leaving Glamorgan wont be an easy decision for him. And you know he'd love to be playing against the Aussie's at Cardiff in 2009.

Didn't he end up having a bonzer season for Worcestershire? A shame if there's no more test cricket for him.

Had a cracking FC season up until he got injured again- took 42 wickets in 9 games @ 18 and 9 list A wickets @ 15 and bowling 87+mph
There was talk of him being selected at Leeds versus the Saffers instead of Pattinson last year tbh.
The good news is this injury is different to the major ones he's had and he's expected to start the new season this year

Sure. He should as he's better than most of what we can field but everytime he looks like getting anywhere near fit enough he breaks down.

Without a doubt, he should have played at Leeds instead of Pattinson.

Yeah maybe. I wasn't sure at the time as he wasn't getting through a lot of overs in each innings for his wickets in domestic cricket. Wonder in reality how close he was to getting selected in that game?

Seeing the thread title, I wonder how sick Hampshire feel for not pursuing Jonah more vigorously.

An attack of Simon Jones, Shane Bond and Chris Tremlett - their physio would've topped himself.
