Yep.
Three years ago ... dragged along by the missus and my teenage daughter/her friend.
I paid.
It's all right :
(a) if you like musical mush distantly related to the Wizard of Oz.
(b) if you avoid paying
(c) if you're female.

Yes. I saw it in both NY and Sydney; and I liked the latter better!
You will like it if:
(a) you appreciate excellent scenic design
(b) you enjoy an interesting story-line
(c) you're any gender, but come along with an open mind, not just the stereotypical male, 'I can't be seen to be watching musicals or everyone'll think I'm gay' approach.
Merlin I'm shocked, nay appalled by your attitude to musical theatre. Do you think it's Funny do you, when grown peeps burst into song in times of crisis?
As a little aside:
I also saw Patrick Swaze in Guys n Dolls, just before he became ill. And very good he was too, even though I was pithed at the time, because I'd been wanting to see Ewen McGregor. (sp?) hubba hubba

First, Wot Bas says above is 100% correct. A Spice girls Muzakal MUST NOT HAPPEN!
As for 'WICKED', qmy, it's got Bert Newton in it. Therefore should be avoided at all costs.

Nice try at being appalled footie, but safe to say I'm neither a stereotypical male nor am I gay!
I've seen ...
Phantom (8 times) - in four countries - UK production with Crawford and Brightman was and remains the best ever.
Les Mizz (4) - brilliant.
Evita (4) - including first night - david essex, best ever Che.
Cats (3) - always a delight.
Lion King (3) - amazing.
Joseph (the original and the latest)
Chess (2) - brilliant music.
Lady in White (1) - hated it.
Mamma Mia (1) - okay - preferred the film.
Chicago (1) - okay in parts.
Olver! (3) - great fun ... Rowan Atkinson was a classic F*gan.
... and various ballets and operas, too numerous to mention.
I just found 'Wicked' too ... errr ... slushy!
Hope that does it!
edit: why did .... f a g a n ...appear in asterix form when typed in normal format ??!

Because people were not heeding the advice that a certain word that is a well-known homophobic slur wasn't welcome on this board, so I had to pop it onto the auto-censor list.
And, like every other feature here, it kind of works to the beat of its own drum.

Nah! Mum saw it in London whilst she was breaking ice on the canals. Mrs qmy wants to see it at the ApolloVictoria theatre when wqe're there.
Despite my fondness for 'Sound of Music' I hate stage musicals. Figured she can watch it and I'll find a pub.

Musical theatre isn't "culture", skulls . . .it's the type of thing the aspiring middle class do to pretend they aren't totally uneducated

Re: WICKED
Just realised the last time i was at that theatre it was Camelot and i was trying to get laid, which is the only reason for musical theatre.
Made a joke about it to the missus and may have solved the attendance problem. In fact may have solved attendance problem anywhere with her ever again.
