Warriors cricket could get worse ....FFS
Jones puts his hand up to coach Warriors TIM CLARKE
February 2, 2010 - 7:42AM .
Former Test great Dean Jones has put his hand up as a possible replacement for Tom Moody as coach of Western Australia next season, as the Warriors latest defeat edged them towards another trophyless season.
With current coach Tom Moody out of contract at the end of the year, and no silverware in his lucrative three years at the helm, whispers have already begun circulating about who may take over if he departed.
With Justin Langer having begun the road to a coaching career as Australia's batting mentor and chief motivator this summer, Jones said his mind had now turned to coaching after a long career in the cricketing media – and a stint in Perth would interest him,
"I am seriously contemplating it, it is part of my chapter of cricket that I have not done," Jones said.
"I really want to do it, I have commentated for the last 14 years, it is good fun, it is a privileged position, I love it – but it is not the same as being involved.
"You don’t get the same feel and the same feedback.
"If you can help a young kid force his way into a team and do well, or turn a struggling team around to win a game or win a tournament.
"I really enjoy Perth I must admit. It is a very good city, I have never looked at it as a place to live in the past – but I have in the last couple of years ago.
"If WA were interested after Tom – and I am not here to shoot Tommy, he is a mate of mine, we won a World Cup together – I would look at it."
Discussions about Moody's future began in late January, and are expected to conclude within a month, with WACA boss Graeme Wood, former Test bowler Sam Gannon and new cricket operations manager Andrew Scotford involved.
And Moody's position would not have been strengthened by another one-day loss, against South Australia on Saturday, where Wood had previously admitted WA had let the fans down since Moody's arrival
"Our four-day cricket’s been quite good, but certainly our one-day cricket has been very ordinary," Wood said earlier this season.
"That’s just not good enough. We’ve got to start make amends for that and playing a little bit differently because the way we’re doing it at the moment is not working.
"I think in the four-day game we’ve seen some big improvements, so I think the group is starting to learn there. In the short form of the game, there is certainly room for improvement.”
Moody will reprise his role as the coach of the Punjab Kings in the IPL from March, a role that has retained his international status after his stint in charge of the Sri Lankans.
And Jones said he believed it essential for a coach to cut his teeth in the Sheffield Shield and domestic one-day competitions before taking on an international role.
"I think you have got to crawl before you can walk, you have got to do a first class team before you do an international team," Jones told radio 6PR.
"But the game has not changed that much. I have probably watched more cricket than anyone going around.
"I know the trends … but you have still got to play straight, you have still go to hold your head in tough situations."

Cricinfo has him down as a coach in the other section
they also make a comment about his captaincy
"Turbulent stints as captain of Victoria and Derbyshire followed, for his personality was bound not to please everyone"
which I think was a nice way of saying he was a qunt that no one liked

it will be funnier if they do..though the comedy will be rather dark
btw I think it a bit rough for moody to wear all the blame for wozzie underperformance...is woody going to take some responsibiity?

Horrie
The same problems come through from the same players that were happening when Dunny was coach ...Time for the players to take some responsibility

Talk about your pieces of qunt. A real mate wouldn't publicly express his interest in taking over a position that his mate holds when the mate's contract is up for renewal after a lean run.Dean Jones wrote:"If WA were interested after Tom – and I am not here to shoot Tommy, he is a mate of mine, we won a World Cup together – I would look at it."

I reiterate. Jones always was an egotistical qunt and always will be. Any administration that takes this fool on needs their head read.Ross wrote:Talk about your pieces of qunt. According to reports in several media outlets this morning, Mickey Arthur could be in the running.
He'd be right at home in Perth, there's heaps of Saffy expats there.
And it would f*ck up Deano's plans.

doubt deano is under consideration...his campaigning is eerily reminiscent of the Ksnr public campaign to replace Tubby first as the one day captain and then Test captain
