Sachin Tendulkar - The Record clock is ticking.
Lets see by the time he retires how many 100s he will end with. 50 test 100s are within his grasp. Punter who looked like beating him to the records post when we last played Bangars 3 years back when Punter crossed Gavaskar doesn't look like he can suddenly bridge the gap. The gap then was 4 centuries. Now it is 8. It has doubled if any.
Sachin now also probably needs 5 centuries more in ODIs as well to finish with 50 centuries there as well. Given the amount of one dayers played as compared to tests, it's amazing that he has got more 100s in tests than one dayers so far. Will he get past 100 centuries overall? And if he does, how many will he finish with when he finally retires?
Hope to see this thread when he retires to see how far it goes and ends.

I wonder if he would actually wear pads and gloves if he was humping a giant snail that looked like Drunky

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - The Record clock is ticking.
I remember someone on the old ch4 forum who wanted Sachin dropped since he was finished as a cricketer and replaced by Akash Chopra or Kaif
What a legend - He's had a fantastic 2008/2009 and now this year. I guess finally having a stable opening partnership has helped him too.
With 3 tests against SL and 2 against NZ coming up this year, he could get to 50 test hundreds before the year end.

3 against sl, 3 against nz, 2 against sa
also possibly 2 against aus
50 this year is expected. i would guess he will play another 3-4 years, so an outside chance of 60
dont know if he will reach 50 odi centuries. he will retire from odis in a year and a bit. would be awesome if he reaches 50 during the world cup

He must have the best Post Captaincy player record ever. In some countries like Australia it is an unwritten policy where a player is shelved when relieved from captaincy. In other cases they generally hang on for a few tests / series and then fizzle away. Sachin in an absolute exception in this regard. Not only did he have the longevity post the Captaincy he has actully matured and gotten better.

well he did become captain at 23 and gave it up for the second time at 26. his whole career was ahead of him. also he did average 51 as captain
he had a terrible 2-3 years in the middle of the last decade due to various injuries. god alone knows where he would be now if it wasnt for those lost years
