Re: Cycling
THat's a rational reason. But I don't mind Valverde too much. It's Contador's twatty pistol celebration, I think.JGK wrote:tricycle wrote:Contador is the favourite, then Porte. Hopefully Porte doesn't have his one shitty day. Contador's team is unbelievably strong. Fabio Aru is the other major threat. There was a rumour that there's a blood passport case with Aru, quite possibly bollocks though.
Would prefer a Porte win or Aru. Contador just winds me up for some irrational reason.
He's a cheat?

Also forgot Uran is riding. He won't win, but could easily end up on the podium.

BD and Trike - any tips?
Contador is ludicrously short.

It seems the fav's, now that Quintana has decided not to defend, are Uran , Porte & Contador. Hard to see anyone else figuring...but there is always a smokey.
Re: Cycling
As BD say, Porte, Uran or Aru....
He's not going to win, but Pozzovivo could get a podium spot with a bit of luck.
If there's a bet for last place finisher, try Cheng Ji.

Re: Cycling
Giro starts tonight (OZ time) SBS has it live from 10.40.
The Giro d'Italia begins with a unique 17.6km team time trial along the Riviera dei Fiori cycle path from San Lorenzo a Mare to San Remo

Re: Cycling
Great ride by the Orica team to take out the time trial for the second year & put Simon Gerrans in the Pink. Not such a good ride by Sky. They finished ninth which puts Porte 20 seconds behind main rival Contador in the GC.

Could be a dull edition. Hopefully, Contador is in poor form.

Re: Cycling
Vivani takes out stage two however the Pink Jersey moved to Aussie Michael Mathews to retain it for Orica. Contador retains his 20 second hold over Porte.
Re: Cycling
Was a fantastic sprint by Viviani. Had no lead-out, but followed the wheels perfectly.
Desperately hoping JGK didn't tip Pozzovivo for my safety. Already 2 minutes down after the TTT and a crash....

Mathews cements his Pink jersey with a mighty stage win. Seems Orica have the dominant edge at the moment. It won't last but the Aussie team continues to set the standard in the early stages.

Poor BD. Just can't bring yourself to say the word "Green" in a positive context can you?
Great win for Mathews.

Yeah, brilliant stage. That was Formolo's first professional win, surprising considering he is one of the highest rated youngsters around.

Yes. He claims that he knew that Formolo had won the stage but you would have to think otherwise judging by the way his hands went from celebrating one second to clutching his helmet the next after the Moviestar rider had a word with him.
