Re: Cycling
As long as the scenery doesn't have an injury or is caught out with too much fertiliser still be worth watching.

Re: Cycling
Ineos will not renew Froomes contract next season heralding a move by Froome to team Israel-Start-Up Nation. Froome was said to be unsatisfied with Ineos as questions surrounded the team's 2020 Tour de France leadership after Egan Bernal stated in early May he would not sacrifice his own opportunity to win another yellow jersey.
Re: Cycling
Well, that’s understandable, Froome is 35 (the oldest ever TdF winner was 36) and is coming back from an injury that would have ended many careers at a much younger age. Expecting him to be able to beat Bernal, who could dominate the race for the next decade injury and drug test permitting, seems pretty fanciful.

I don't get into the PC debates, but this one is cartoonish.
Quinn Simmons has been suspended by trek for this
And apparently this is his other brush with the race topic
Quinn Simmons has been suspended by trek for this
And apparently this is his other brush with the race topic
It was not Simmons’ first racially-charged dispute. Shortly after protests over the murders of Black men and women erupted across the United States this summer, American pro Cory Williams, who is Black, posted a series of Instagram posts outlining his excellent junior and espoir results and subsequent lack of selection to US national development programs. The color of his skin, he has said, had played a role in that lack of selection.
“I’ve struggled in my career,” Williams wrote. “I’ve been one of the top cyclists in America even the best at my age at one point. I’ve been national champion and won a stage race overall, won a green jersey, won over 20 state championships and been top 20 at national road races as a junior and never been able to represent America on the national team.”
Simmons responded to Williams via direct message, saying he was simply not fast enough. Williams then used a screenshot to share Simmons’ message with his 85,000 Instagram followers. Simmons later apologized, stating that he was defending Billy Innes, the longtime head of USA Cycling’s development program, not questioning Williams’ ability.

Caleb Ewan finished like a train to win Stage 5 of Giro d'Italia. It is amazing how he is able to weave his way through the smallest gaps.
Unfortunately, there were some nasty accidents, the worst one involving Mikel Landa who probably was unable to finish.

Ritchie Porte takes the yellow jersey on the penultimate stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné.
Re: Cycling
Great ride by Richie. Oldest winner ever, First Aussie winner since Phil Anderson, and great to see him finally win a race he’s been bridesmaid in twice previously.

Guess Pog, Rog and whoever leads UK Postal will be the favourites anyway.

Porte joined Ineos as a super domestique. I would think, for the TdF, Thomas, Hart or Carapaz would be leader.

Of course, they’re the one team who will potentially have backup GC options if their nominated leader fails to trouble the Slovenians.

Kaden Groves wins the final stage of the Vuelta which means he is only the 3rd Australian to win 3 stages of a Grand Tour. He is also the winner of the Green Jersey for the Points Classification.
The General Classification was won by Sepp Kuss with Vingegaard 2nd & Roglic 3rd, a clean sweep for Team Jumbo-Visma.
The Mountains Classification was won by Remco Evenepoel.

First Yank to win a Grand Tour since… well, Chris Horner, but even that one felt dubious. Before that, in an official sense, we’re going back to LeMond I think.
