Where does your dog rate?
Can't even pretend it's cricket-related, unless you count my uncle Freddy, who was a good cricketer and looks rather like a bull-terrier...

How weird!
I was talking about this list about half an hour ago with my friend on the beach. I thought poodle was number one.
My border collie is VERY clever. It's true.

My cocker spaniel is very bright - would have thought he'd be there, but then, perhaps it is only because we used to have a mastiff, which is on the other list... Surprised that bullterriers aren't on the second list - you can't teach them anything.

Working with dogs all my working life I can say without doubt that the thickest dogs around are English Bull Terriers.

Most of them have room for only one thought in their head in a lifetime. In the case of our last bullterrier, the thought was murder. The one before dedicated his life to ripping up the neighbourhood dogs. The third was at least more versatile, being both deaf and a sex maniac.

They must hold the record for the number of times dogs have had to have laparotomies to remove socks, dichclothes, tights, balls, etc, etc......

With this thread we are no longer friends . You know we have a bull terrier and he is the most fantastic animal (excluding Keith of course) in the world. It is just a pity that he doesn't like me very much except when it comes to snack times and breakfast and supper but is madly in love with the garden bloke.

Re: Where does your dog rate?
Mind you, my sister's kids had the stupidest dog ever. Heaven knows its ancestry: We don't know what the mother (who'd been quite bright) had mated with, but candidates included a doormat, a clothesbrush and a milk bottle. Einstein was so thick it (can't remember if it was a he or she) had to stand still for half a minute to think every time it had to move in a new direction.

Did anyone try that pet IQ thing on the BBC a few years back? My cat failed every single test.

Re: Where does your dog rate?
Yes, I think your dog had to recognise 8 or more commands. Mine does many more than that. She even fetches my socks for me when we go out for walkies.
My other one has a big wide space where his brain should be though.
He's a Bitsa.
