Hell's Bell's, what a catch!!
Yes, this has prolly been discussed in the IPL forum....
Just saw Nikki's IPL catch on the Teev. Colly smashed one low and flat to wide deep mid-on, Dussey parryied it once, then then knocked it up again with his body outside the boundary (but no foot on the ground) then dived in to catch it.
Ended a 120 run stand between Colly and GCS (who bashed a ton).

Cheers TO, but can't see the first one. "This video contains content from GCV, who has blocked it from display on this website."
Bailists.

Aye, couldn't be arsed finding a "live" version. It's probably blocked by GCV anyway.Zat wrote:What kind of sad qunt sits there watching cricket while pointing a video camera of some sort at the teev?

Correct. It was discussed at length on the IPL forum but I have no complaint about you starting a thread on it in the main forum. No one reads the IPL forum.

Re: Hell's Bell's, what a catch!!
Surely that Angelo Matthews incident was a 6? He was out of bounds just before and just after he touched the ball, never having gone back in to the field of play?

Re: Hell's Bell's, what a catch!!
The ICC ruling is ....
if you arent grounded at the point of contact it isnt a 6 ...even if you happen to be 40 yards over the boundary line and have been grounded at some point to get there
I dont agree but thats how they have ruled
They apply the same ruling on run outs so if you are in the air (jumping for joy etc) at the moment the bails come off you are out even though you may be well past the crease .
One of the Indian batsmen was run out earlier in IPL 3 when he dived and grounded his bat and as his momentum went forward the bat came up because the handle and the shoulder of the bat were grounded and that lifted the blade up . Despite his momentum going towards the crease and having ground the bat over the crease ...he was out because the bat had lifted when the wicket was broken ...

Aren't the MCC responsible for writing the laws?

It's no excuse for a major lapse in logic, but it does explain a bit.

It's a LAW ...Logic doesnt come into it
Otherwise umpires would just give Subis out every time they get hit on the pad

Which would make up for all the times they weren't given out when plumb in the days before neutral umpires.

i wonder if they would have reached the same view if he had batted the ball back to a player inside the boundary for a catch.
