Stuart Broad
Does he need a right royal kick in the back and some cooling off time ?
First that caught behind where the ball missed the bat by half a foot and Broad ran down the pitch in celebration without an appeal. When the umpire denied the eventual appeal then Broad did not ask for a referral which seems to indicate that he might have known all along that there was no edge.
Then that throwing incident.
Broad comes across as a petulant customer with a big attitude problem. Wonder who his role model is within the family.
Nevertheless he needs to be dealt firmly by ICC to send a clear message.

Errr that would be Stuart actually. Not that his old man was a knight in shining armour.
As it happens, I think Broady is heading for a suspension - I'm getting sick and tired of his antics. All we get from England's management is that he is "competitive". he is highly talented and I'm glad that he is ours - but he is a dick.

The thing I dislike about him is the running down the wicket without appeal for lbws (which I believe was invented by Brett Lee). Even a competitive nob can have the good grace to show the umpires the respect of at least looking at them when they appeal

Re: Stuart Broad
Precisely! It's the lack of respect to umpires that pisses me off. He's cruising for a suspension and whatever message is being sent to him by our management ( and please God, I hope one is being sent) it clearly isn't being listened to.

Perhaps we should give him the captaincy of his own gunboat to knock off a few hundred fuzzywuzzies.
Can't help but think we wouldn't get away with this thread on pakpassion.

Re: Stuart Broad
He is apparently charged by Madugalle for this incident.
England bowler Stuart Broad has been charged by match referee Ranjan Madugalle for "throwing the ball inappropriately" during the second Test with Pakistan.
Broad threw a dead ball back at batsman Zulqarnain Haider, who would frustrate England with a knock of 88, during the third day at Edgbaston.
The 24-year-old seamer was charged with a level two offence for the incident.
The transgression can result in a one-Test ban, but a fine relating to a percentage of his match fee is likely to apply to Broad as he has not been punished for a similar incident before.
Graeme Swann, who claimed Test best figures of 6-60 on the third day, was quick to play down the flashpoint.
Malice
"Knowing Broady as I do, he certainly didn't have any malice behind it and he can't throw the ball hard enough to hurt anyone anyway," he said.
"He apologised straight away. It was just a sign of the frustrations that were going on."
Pakistan skipper Salman Butt, however, criticised Broad's actions.
He said: "Cricket is a gentleman's game but I think they got frustrated. The throw was just one thing. There were plenty of words as well, that everyone could see, and people kicking the bowling marks.
"It's just frustration when you have been bowling too long. It's not good to see people throwing balls intentionally at others and not even apologising properly."

Re: Stuart Broad
You have to hand it to Broad. He transgresses on one section of the code, then moves on to another section and trangresses there, getting another fine, and then transgresses again in yet another section. He's working his way through the ICC Code of Conduct. The transgression can result in a one-Test ban, but a fine relating to a percentage of his match fee is likely to apply to Broad as he has not been punished for a similar incident before.

So he's guilty of a broad spectrum of offences?
Yeah, I know.

Re: Stuart Broad
Broad, not to be misled by his "boyish" looks, is a prize disrespectful twat.
He's got form going back a long way.
I personally (as a Pom supporter) don't really GAF how "combatitive" he wants to be - he can do that in several other ways - but his disrespect for both umpires and oppos alike - and the England management's disguised efforts at endorsing the fact are deplorable.
A 2 Test match ban in this instance ought to do the trick ... but you well know the ICC's gutless posture.
It'll be for 2 meaningless ODI's - which at the end equates to jack sh*t.

Is Broad the equivalent of van Bommel? Somehow managing to avoid punishment despite everyone being able to see how much of a twat he is.

Can't believe his petulance - he's a recidivist. It was bad enough that he didn't accept the video umpire's evidence but to then throw the ball needlessly at the batsman was bordering on disdainful petulance in the extreme. He's a manical narcissist who needs nipped in the bud.

Re: Stuart Broad
So yet again, he gets off lightly.
England fast bowler Stuart Broad has been fined 50% of his match fee for throwing the ball at Pakistan batsman Zulqarnain Haider on the third day of the Edgbaston Test. Broad pleaded guilty to a Level 2 offence and was fined for breaching the section of the ICC Code of Conduct relating to "throwing the ball at or near a player, umpire or official in an inappropriate/and or dangerous manner".
I think it'd have served him well (for his own sake) had he been banned at least for a test. But then Madugalle was always a pussycat.

Re: Stuart Broad
I strongly condemned Watson for his antics towards Gayle, and also Haddin for his part in the Benn incident during last winters series against WI. I also expressed disgust with Ponting last month regarding his elbowing young Amir.
I'm equally disgusted with Broads' behaviour and attitude, and certainly won't condone it because he's ours.
With all that's at stake in modern cricket, I can understand why batsmen no longer walk on a regular basis even when it's plain they nicked the ball - and disputing "catches" caught on the half-volley when the ball may or may not have carried. I don't like it, as it goes against the spirit of the game, but as I said - I can understand it.
The three incidents I referred to are on a completely different level though, and all deserved more severe punishment than they got/will get.
Broad has been spoken to about his attitude (especially his appealing) before now. It doesn't seem to have got through, so either
1. He's a thick gunt with severe learning difficulties. or
2. He's a cocky gunt who think he's above the rules, and can do as he pleases with impunity.
A ban from the next Test would give him plenty of time to reflect, as his antics yesterday managed to disrupt the whole team by close of play, with the result we let Pakistan back into the game. Wanker.
