ICC Cricketer of the Year awards
Watson up for ICC gong
Shane Watson and Doug Bollinger headline a strong contingent of Australians that have been nominated for LG ICC Awards.
Watson has been nominated in four categories and Bollinger is among seven players, including Indian duo Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, South African Jacques Kallis and Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardena, that have been nominated in three different categories - cricketer of the year, Test player of the year and ODI player of the year.
Joining the star Aussies in the nominations for the cricketer of the year are captain Ricky Ponting, vice-captain Michael Clarke, fast bowlers Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson, who won the award last year.
Simon Katich is the only other Australian up for Test player of the year, while Harris, Ponting, Michael Hussey and Cameron White are all up for the ODI award.
Exciting trio David Warner, Steven Smith and Tim Paine are all in line for the emerging player of the year, which fast bowler Peter Siddle won last year.
The long-lists of nominations were made by a five-man ICC selection panel chaired by former West Indies captain and current chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee Clive Lloyd. The panel also includes former international players Angus Fraser of England, Matthew Hayden of Australia, Ravi Shastri of India and Zimbabwe's Duncan Fletcher.

You don't imagine the second best player in the Waugh family doing similar things if the were no Aussie nomination?

My pick for T20 performance of the year (yeah, yeah, IDRGAF either) is McCullum's remarkable 116* v us at Christchurch. That was the day he was paddling Spud for sixes over very fine Fine Leg. All Spud could do was shake his head and laugh.

Ravindra Mighty Jadeja nominated for the awards.
That one nomination finished whatever little credibility ICC awards had.

Surprisning not to see Swann there.
He could've been a strong contender for Test cricketer of the year award.

Re: ICC Cricketer of the Year awards
Harris (played just 2 tests) and Johnson being nominated for cricketer of the year is a bit of joke.
Same is true for Sehwag being nominated for ODI player of the year.
Same is true for Sehwag being nominated for ODI player of the year.

FFS, too many players in each category for these awards to be taken as anything other than a PC lark.

McCullum is remarkable. I didn't think the stuff he & a couple of others put on was possible.

I think the not-so-short shortlists get further shortlisted to 6 prior to the event

So we can hope sanity will prevail and Ricky won't make the shortlist?

Seemingly vilky rates Colly's herculean effort of lifting that pointy trophy as the T20 performance of the year.

Interesting that the top 7 by batting average are all Ind/SL, and Zaheer Khan is the only Ind/SL player to post a bowling average BELOW 40!
