Clash of Times: Federer vs Sampras

This is the first I have heard of it, and am quite surprised that Sampras feels that he can match it with the FedExpress after four years out of the game.

They're playing about 4 games IIRC. Sampras says he's just aiming to be competitive.

A silly revenue / publicity generating exercise nothing more IMO.

Federer wins first match quite comfortably in 61 min, by 6-4, 6-3.

Sampras was a break up at 4-2 in the first set.

Was Sampras even a shadow of his former self?

Could he match it with the likes of Nadal and Roddick?

The Seniors' Tour is actually quite entertaining. Can't wait to watch Courier and Sampras and Agassi in action again.

Sampras at his peak Vs Federer at his peak would've guaranteed a good contest.

They have to make it interesting so that the next matches draw some crowd.
I wonder if the officials sit and discuss the "plot" openly with the players or if there is a gentlemanly understanding about how these events need to get scripted.

I bet Sampras could still make the second week of Wimbledon as well... and not just in the oldies’ doubles.
