Hmm, I think I've fooked up here. They all look correct. It seems my list features one opener making THE ONLY duck in the innings and the other opener topscoring. Many of those games had other duck makers in the innings. Apologies.
To save JGK continuing his successful search, here's the list.
One opener making the only duck in the innings and the other topscoring in an all out ODI total:
SL (160) v Pak Colombo(RPS) Aug 24, 1994 - RS Mahanama 52/ST Jayasuriya 0
Eng (230) v SAf Birmingham Aug 28, 1998 - NV Knight 74/AD Brown 0
Zim (133) v Ind Harare Jun 24, 2001 - ADR Campbell 0/DD Ebrahim 32
Can (196) v NZ Benoni Mar 3, 2003 - I Maraj 0/JM Davison 75
SL (201) v WI Bridgetown Jun 7, 2003 - ST Jayasuriya 0/RS Kaluwitharana 54
Ind (209) v Aus Bombay Nov 1, 2003 - V Sehwag 0/SR Tendulkar 68
Ind (268) v WI Madras Jan 27, 2007 - RV Uthappa 70/G Gambhir 0
Aus (200) v Eng Sydney Feb 2, 2007 - AC Gilchrist 0/ML Hayden 51
SL (212) v Ind Colombo(RPS) Aug 27, 2008 - ST Jayasuriya 60/BSM Warnapura 0
WI (248) v BD Basseterre Jul 31, 2009 - KOA Powell 0/ADS Fletcher 52
Zim (207) v BD Bulwayo Aug 9, 2009 - H Masakadza 0/MA Vermeulen 92
SL (170) v Ind Dambulla Aug 16, 2010 - WU Tharanga 0/TM Dilshan 45

No JGK sort of did and I remembered their big partnership and thought I'd throw it in to keep the post count up.
Buggered if I can find any others, though I figured there'd have to be a few Pakistanis in there giving the batting abilities of some of their fast bowlers. Checking that now.

Something like that. I think Flemming did it with someone too but not sure if it's >50%.

Well fark it, I may as well ask the question...
Yes to Woody re the Wasim match. 7 more instances to go.
No to Astle and Parore (and in fact no kiwi pair has done it).

A clue of sorts - having only happened 5 times in the previous 120+ years, it happened twice within the space of 3 months in the late 90s.

Re: Difficult Trivia Thread for 2010 (By taipan) II
Any qualifications, JGK? I'll help. I reckon there have been 10 8th wicket partnerships of 50 or more in Tests that made up more than 50% of the team's final total.
8th wicket Test partnerships of >50 worth >50% of total:
?
?
56.60% - 313/553 - Wasim Akram (257*) & Saqlain Mushtaq (79) - Pak v Zim Sheikhupura 1996/97
?
?
?
54.19% - 246/454 - LEG Ames (137) & GOB Allen (122) - Eng v Aus Lords 1931
?
?
51.07% - 119/233 - MJ Prior (84*) & SCJ Broad (48) - Eng v Pak The Oval 2010

My qualification is that the batting side was all out.
Without that qual I thjink that you get 11 including the current match. .
But obviously I know them so I'll let others guess.

Is the 11th a 50 to 100 partnership or over 100? My qual was not all out.

Actually, my mistake, I had the O'REilly/ McCormick partnership of 49 out of 80 as well.

OK, so we agree there are 10 x 8th wicket 50+ partnerships in Tests that make up >50% of the total (doesn't have to be all out but obviously will be at least 7 down).

Faulkner & Schwarz Saf v Oz Sydney 1910-11
This doesn't work. JGK asking the question is as silly as Ron Jeremy directing a movie - what's the point of having him if he's going to be behind the camera

IT was more like RJ was directing the movie but got pushed out of the way by Johnny Holmes and now RJ is just watching from the green room waiting for the scene to finish so he can be in the next scene.
